And here are our study materials for the evening. Not sure if we've had them before, but have tried to find new ones - is getting trickier Grin!

Enjoy!

Flowers - good choice - I always like her videos though - she's @LadyMarianD001 on Twitter

Ah - will investigate

Theresaholeinyourmind · 17/11/2010 22:02

Interesting, the amount of black and white ones. This one of Flowers's has got stuck so I shall have to get it to reload.

Isn't Lucas so gorgeous though, just about breaks my heart. I was thinking again about acting, and how similar it is in a way to writing. During my brief experience of a creative writing course I was told that plots are important but most of all you need to create characters the reader cares about. Otherwise the book is dull and formulaic.

As an actor, Mr Armitage makes us care.

I am still worriting away about a reprobate like Lovelace, never mind all the more worthy others

Oooh, LeQueen, top of today's list of my fantasy theatre projects for Mr Armitage would be some Chekhov. All that power and emotion and (natch) a floppy white shirt. I do feel a bit sorry for him if he really wants to do Serious Theatre and keeps being cast as Action Totty.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 17/11/2010 22:28

He has plenty of years ahead of him touch wood, to be a Serious Actor, he should end up a little less beautiful in twenty years time. Though excruciatingly distinguished of course

Meanwhile he should maybe sew himself into his shirt or something, like they used to do to kids in winter in the olden days, so directors can't make him do chest shots. How not to smoulder??? I think he can't help that, it just sort of switches on when he steps onto a set.

I have been on the other thread and registered my disapproval. Do you think they were looking for a fight or was it done in all innocence?

PrairieOyster · 17/11/2010 22:30

He's going to be mega famous you know...

Bodenbabe · 17/11/2010 22:31

So, my date with the Doc is over and I am now in the mood for some serious study. I have been trawling the archives in search of some upbeat Lucas material, and have so far come up with . It's only still shots but is at least not slit-your-wrist miserable and the music really works!

PrairieOyster · 17/11/2010 22:31

Oh I wasn't so bad on the other thread, I've seen much worse

PrairieOyster · 17/11/2010 22:33

I mean of course IT wasn't so bad on the other thread....

Why there is no edit button here, I'll never know...

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 17/11/2010 22:35

Well I think they do have a point. Lucas always seemed so cold, dead behind the eyes. Over the years, I have come rather to esteem Harry. I had a lump in my throat as he rang his daughter from the car to say goodbye as he thought it was 'his turn'. He has a cracking line, too, in aphorisms and I have always been rather susceptible to a gentleman's verbal dexterity.

I have noticed, thanks to the extensive uncoverage here, that Mr Armitage was once prepared (it seems) to bare his botty for the camera but no longer does so. Perhaps the stitched-on shirt would be the logical progression from that?

Bodenbabe · 17/11/2010 22:36

All in innocence, I'm sure Theresa. Albeit misguided, idiotic innocence :)

Oyster, don't think I want him to be mega-famous, y'know? He's ours, goddamit, ours.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 17/11/2010 22:37

PMSL @ you lot over on AIBU.

Boden, get thee over there and give them a good old Academy pasting.

Bodenbabe · 17/11/2010 22:40

I have done, Theresa! Is it not showing up? Will have a look...

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 17/11/2010 22:43

Do you think so, Oyster? Isn't the nature of Tinseltown and its cult of youth that people don't become mega-hyper-ultra-super famous when they're approaching 40? That isn't to say that they don't receive critical acclaim and attention, both of which he richly deserves.

PrairieOyster · 17/11/2010 22:46

A contribution to the Armitage Academy studies

This one by top RA vidder Heathra

Fettle · 17/11/2010 22:48

ROFL at the AIBU thread!! Those girls stand no chance!!Grin

Sure I had something of interest to say but I'm all in a fluster at Lucasnight!! so think I'll bid my farewells and see you tomorrow!
[swoon]

Theresaholeinyourmind · 17/11/2010 22:52

But Flowers , I wouldn't mind having a nice cup of cocoa with Harry, he is a dear fellow, but I wouldn't want to dance the wild fandango avec him.

I don't find Lucas dead behind the eyes, there is defintely something there that seems to be mainly pain. And I find myself doing that pesky caring thing again

I finally got to watch Flowers's vid, and reacted thusly.

Oh, and someone bought me a black Belstaff jacket last year. A huge treat at the time but I didn't realize then quite how huge

Bodenbabe · 17/11/2010 22:53

Funnily enough, as we're having Lucas Night at the Academy, I had recently been pondering what exactly it is about Lucas that works for me. I never normally go for the obvious pretty boys (eg. Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt etc. - I just don't get it) and I would always go for substance over style. Not to mention that I have never been attracted by bad boys and would go for the nice guy every time. But maybe that's exactly why I heart Lucas - he's different. I've always preferred safety and comfort over unpredictability (and that's just what I have with DH who is super-sweet and lovely). So maybe the idea of someone who could be downright dangerous is so appealing - in fantasy at least. Sometimes you just want to be....

Bodenbabe · 17/11/2010 22:53

Night, Fettle!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 17/11/2010 22:56

Oh yes, Flowers, How lovely. Critical acclaim and attention, I am sure he would value that far more than a passel of squealy fans and daily coverage in Hello Magazine
Though about the squealy fans...
