And here are our study materials for the evening. Not sure if we've had them before, but have tried to find new ones - is getting trickier Grin!

Enjoy!

The gift of YT was that I already knew that Everyone Dies, although that has filled in some of the gaps.

Did you say you were

Theresaholeinyourmind · 19/11/2010 22:58

That's about the only time one of his characters ends up happy. It's absolutely lovely. Lucky you, Flowers, your favourite man gets the girl.

The other personae don't even get to have a little fun along the way. Unless you count Harry of Dibley. (I did love the way Dawn French flies off into the air on marrying him.)

PrairieOyster · 19/11/2010 23:06

The Macbeth where he is Angus IS available (the one with Anthony Sher), but I have not got it - seems quite expensive.

Ooooh, Oyster, tempting nevertheless. Will check prices. I do like the Scottish play.

That is one of the things that makes him my favourite man, Theresa. I have had enough tortured people in my life that I yearn for someone uncomplicated to swoon over (although Mr Thornton does have some delicious, errm, complications).

I was listening to this earlier and thinking that Guy and Lovelace really needed to have Otis Redding writing for them:

Hey there, here I am
I'm the man on the scene
I can give you what you want
But you got to come home with me

I forgot some good old lovin'
And I got me some more in store
When I get to thrown it on you
You got to come back for more

Toys and things that come by the dozen
That ain't nothin' but drug store lovin'
Pretty little thing, let me light your candle
'Cause mama I'm sure hard to handle, now, gets around

Action speaks louder than words
And I'm a man of great experience
I know you got another man
But I can love you better than him

Take my hand, don't be afraid
I'm wanna prove every word I say
I'm advertisin' love for free
So, you can place your ad with me

(There is a YT vid with this as the soundtrack, except that the soundtrack has been removed for copyright reasons and I can't get it to run on the vidmaker's site).

Sparkhouse and Golden Hour on Amazon for £8.87...what to do?

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorth · 19/11/2010 23:21

Flowers I used to follow a local band that sang that song and it occurred to me the other day that the lead singer did have a touch of RA in fallen angel mode about him Grin

OP posts:
PrairieOyster · 19/11/2010 23:21

It's worth it for Sparkhouse alone!

PrairieOyster · 19/11/2010 23:23

There's going to be a group rewatch of Sparkhouse on one of the forums I belong to - looking forward to that

MrsLucasNorth · 19/11/2010 23:24

Ker-ching....sold!

OP posts:
ASmallBunchofFlowers · 19/11/2010 23:26

Hmm. Sparkhouse sounds like a better bet to me as there will be all that Wuthering Heights passion going on (or so I assume). There have, though, been mutterings about nasty jumpers. Oyster is probably better qualified to advise!

Bodenbabe · 19/11/2010 23:26

Hello fellow academics!

Stripey, you posted 2 links that I can't get to work - at 9'39 and 9'55 this morning. Did they work for everyone else? (the one about "seeing a guy at the bar looking like this". I was very intrigued and need to see :)

Nice day in France - it amused me no end to find this on sale:

www.cheapwineratings.com/images/brancott.chardonnay.jpg

Very late now and am tired, so back tomorrow. Happy studying, all!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 19/11/2010 23:27

Oh, I was too slow!

PrairieOyster · 19/11/2010 23:30

Dodgy jumpers (or clothes generally) - CHECK
Terrible hair - CHECK

But it's still worth it - if only to see RA in a boiler suit (only kidding)

I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it

It has some uncomfortable themes

Well worth a watch for RA fans though

MrsLucasNorth · 19/11/2010 23:31

Bodenbabe - not only Gisbourne, but from New Zealand too - v. impressive (although still hoping they move Hobbit filming to Scotland - tis opposite end of country but still an improvement and the in-laws have a holiday home there!)

OP posts:
Bodenbabe · 19/11/2010 23:32

MrsLN, did you mean £8.97 in total or each? 'Cos if you meant each, you can get Golden Hour from amazon for about £3.50 (look at the 'new and used' bits under the main title).

Flowers, have always loved that song and means even more now!

Oh, last thing - pulled up at the terminal on the way home to find a very tall man in black leathers parking a motorbike!! Seriously!! Did make me quiver giggle :o

PrairieOyster · 19/11/2010 23:32

I thought NZ was a done deal

Scotland is a big place, BTW

Theresaholeinyourmind · 19/11/2010 23:33

That's eerily appropriate, Flowers.

I don't really need to get sucked into such scenarios, myself but I seem to be such an easy touch for a complicated, damaged hero. Goodness knows why.

Like that cultural icon of the late last century, Bon Jovi says, they're

... like bad medicine
Bad medicine is what I need
Shake it up, just like bad medicine
There ain't no doctor that can cure my disease

I guess it hurts so good, that's why Grin Bear

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 19/11/2010 23:35

Look, the point is that he should ditch the Hobbit and do more telly and West End theatre so that he can continue to live in London near me.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 19/11/2010 23:37

And my connection is so slow I am missing the fun on here, that doean't help. Hi Boden, that has to be another Academy vintage of choice

PrairieOyster · 19/11/2010 23:37

So you live in London, Flowers?

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 19/11/2010 23:37

Yes, it is, isn't it, Theresa. Another fine song to which I was introduced by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. I wasn't hugely surprised to find that someone had made a Guy vid to it (although without the soundtrack it's a letdown).

More cordial, anyone?

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 19/11/2010 23:38

Indeed I do.

PrairieOyster · 19/11/2010 23:40

We also have some of the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain's recordings, flowers! Along with the half dozen ukelele's that live in our house....

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 19/11/2010 23:41

Oh I do so want my own ukulele.

I have fantasies of joining the UOGB.

Why do you ask about London?

PrairieOyster · 19/11/2010 23:42

Well only because I don't live a million miles away either...
