Final Year of Uni

OK, so I'm in my last year of uni and currently live at home, no children yet, and currently single. Anyway, after graduating I'd like to move up to Manchester from my current location in the Midlands.

So, wwyd?

Start applying for graduate jobs ASAP and get a start date after graduation (I have to apply for some jobs as part of my degree, but not til next semester), look at flats, get things sorted ASAP.

Or wait til January to set everything in motion, but run the risk of not having things sorted for when i leave?

I'd quite like to start applying (film and TV jobs - editing mostly) but I don't know where to look or if I'm jumping the gun a bit. Already been turned down by BBC North, which was a bit annoying.

Start applying now. Phone BBC North and ask why your application wasn't deemed suitable at this time and what the policy is on reapplying.

Its tough making the why don't you want me phone calls but it can be very informative and even lead to you being invited to reapply taking into account their comments.

Take each application seriously and spend time drafting it, spell checking and cross checking you've answered the question asked.

Good luck

Definitely start applying now. You are trying to enter a very competitive job market so the sooner you get started and get interviews if possible, the better. Be prepared for lots of disappointments - it's the name of the game; but just keep applying and reapplying. Unless job adverts state that previous applicants shouldn't reaply, don't give up. The world is littered with people who got jobs through persistent re-applications. I have a friend who got a production type job with the BBC at his 5th attempt.
