How do I 'hide' someone's postings? The 'hide' option has disappeared

I used to hover next to someone's post and a 'hide' option would appear, but this doesn't happen anymore for some reason. Is there any other way to hide someone's posts without deleting them? Thanks

Click on the X at the top right of the post - you should then get the hide options as normal.

Thanks, it worked. I'm a bit confused though as the things I hid previously (like local arboretum etc) are no longer on my list of things I have hidden when I go to 'edit options' at the bottom of the page. Do they drop off that list eventually?
