WIth HUNDREDS of photo negatives

Bit of a trivial subject but I'm at the moment going through a major declutter and have come across literally hundreds of negatives from the old days (pre-digital Smile) They're all in strips, some loose, some in empty photo packets, all the printed photos are about somewhere. Will I ever need them - probably not, should I bin them -what if someone gets hold of them and prints off my life Blush, is there any way of destroying them - ? would soaking in boiling water do the trick. I know they don't take up a lot of space but they are annoying me and actually the amount I have do take up a fair bit of space!!

shred them? Are you sure you don't want any of them?

cybilliberty · 08/08/2010 18:34

Oh just chuck em out.

cybilliberty · 08/08/2010 18:34

unless......you are a spy

Mmmm, that's the question. I do have all the prints and could always scan if I want another copy. Can't see myself squinting up at the light through hudreds of strips to find one I want! Thought about shredding but it would take HOURS, and I want rid now, I am on a roll with this decluttering lark Grin

I was going to say don't do what my mother did and bin the lot!! I would have taken them off her hands. She thought, well I'll just get them scanned, but printed photo's deteriorate, so eventually you'll lose the photos. If you don't want them lying about and want a good sort out, I would buy a negative scanner, scan the lot, sort them out into yearly folders, delete the duds and then back them up on hard drive and DVD.

But then I'm anal about photo's as I only have about 6 of me as a baby. I'm still Angry at my mother for her short sightedness!

Dear oh dear - don't shred them or chuck 'em.
Keep 'em and scan 'em in. You and the family will enjoy lookin' at them later.

I just binned all of ours from the last 13 years! I thought about putting them all in a box to keep at my mum's in case our house burned down or something and we had no photos left. But I couldn't be bothered!

My mum has albums of photos of the kids too, so even if we lost everything we would still have pictures.
