problem with ASDA charging more for my delivery than I expected what do I do now?

hi,
I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble with the ASDA online delivery and any suggestions for trying to get my money back/an appology.

I did as directed selected the delivery slot for the next day, (so the correct prices and offers could be applied according to the website)

peppers cost 30p each, I ordered 5. my confirmation email included peppers at 30p each.

The delivery arrived and as I was unpacking (the chap had left) I realised the peppers had been charged at 82p each!

I contacted asda who said "Online prices are a guide only and are subject to change. These prices are updated overnight. You get charged the in-store price on the day your order is due to be delivered as you would if you went to the store that day. This excludes items that were on a valid promotion at the time you checked out your order. "

so basically they can charge something completely different to what I thought they would without even asking me or highlighting it in the delivery notice that comes with the shopping.

my previous order cost more than I thought it would too but less than a pound so I hadnt noticed.

They did not appologise and refused to refund the difference.

sorry for the long ramble

Any ideas who to complain/how to get them to take this seriously?

Ring back and ask to speak to a manager. I had similar problem with Tesco, and also the dates on stuff were rubbish and they instantly apologised and refunded my money no questions asked.

Contact head office - they won't like that you are unhappy and hopefully will refund.

Do Asda have a price matching policy? because Tesco have introduced it and if they substitute they give yoiu the item for what the original would have cost, however they can be naughty and give you a smaller quantity, but when pointed out they refund again.

UPDATE

Thanks for your advice I called and they are going to refund the difference now but then speak to the store and check they agree otherwise? (i presume by that they meant otherwise it might be recharged)

I asked who I needed to contact to suggest that they have a section on the order titled "different price"or highlight prices that are different to "expected". I was told they did not understand my request and the conversation terminated.

not meaning to sound suspcious but it is concerning that looking back through previous orders there were tomatoes £1.50 a kilo when I placed the order charged £2.16 the next day!

so be warned and check any deliveries very carefully!!

I'm going to write to them with these concerns.
