Dangerous car seat practice...

My best friend is a mother of 4 and really should know better but it's not the first time she has done something that leaves me slack-jawed.

She has recently put her child's care seat which she uses for her toddler and her 10mth old in the front seat of her car which is fitted with an air bag. It is the same car as mine and I know that to disable the air bag she would have to take it to a dealer. There isn't an off switch on this make and model and she hasn't done this.

I have mentioned the dangers to her before when she did it the 1st time and I find it really frustrating that she so blatantly disregards them. This was a while ago though, at least 18mths ago.

I feel like screaming sometimes I cannot believe how stupid she is being. She is so laid back about it I just want to tell her but I don't know how to. I'm really worried about her having a car accident god forbid and either one of her poor children could be seriously injured by the air bag.

WWYD?

It's perfectly legal if forward facing(not rear), but ideally the seat should be as far back as possible.

I don't think any car seat is legally allowed in the front with an air bag as they diploy at 140mph which would crush a child under 4ft tall.

Forward facing is allowed in front with air bag although it is recommended that back is better if possible.
It's rear facing that is not allowed in front with air bag under any circumstances.

Yes it is legal but not recomended.

I have to do this twice a week to get my child to school in a village not walkable from our home as i childmind. Needless to say this was NOT our preffered school choice for this very reason.

And yes it is my son who travels in the front.

Forward facing is allowed in the front of a large car where the seat can go a v long way back.

Not ideal though,

Ok thanks for that everyone, I'm glad to be corrected I do feel a bit better about it and I might just slip it into convo about the seat being as far back as possible.

yeah it is def legal, but it is pretty stupid if she has space in the back seat
