I am flexischooling AMA

My 5 year old started school this year and I am flexischooling him. I know that this is not at all common if even heard of by most parents and schools in England so feel free to AMA 😁

I know, I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of it! It’s a fairly new policy so I think a lot of people aren’t aware it exists. I only know as a teacher friend suggested to me as I’d spoken to her about how by Fridays we were just done with the whole scene!

She is really loving it. She doesn’t have any SEN and is NT but she does find school quite loud, their classrooms are open plan with several classes in one space (which a lot of the teachers struggle with too!) so it’s quite noisy and by Friday she’s kind of done with it. Friday mornings getting out of the house were sometimes quite stressful at the end of a long week.

But now she is raring to go on Fridays, we have a much more relaxed morning before we have to leave the house for her STEM workshop, we don’t have to rush, and we can just decide what we want to do for the rest of the day depending on what she’s interested in that week, if we want to do traditional learning or if we want to focus more on an experience or a life skill such as cooking or DIY, etc. It’s given a nice balance, and means we can use the Fridays to visit places that are busy at weekends too.
