I did the first three hours and now my husband is at the wheel while I’m in the passenger seat with snacks. Sadly, s/he who controls the car controls the radio so my 80s pop has been replaced by some weird trancey stuff.

Here on holiday and today involves a particularly long trip as we move from an area west of the island and head north.

Photo pending of my current view out the window of our rental car.

@LucyLou72 I thought if you did AMA you were the expert? My tip - take it slowly. Don't rush around the ring road and do a super jeep tour. Also the north west fjiord area.

Rude.

I was politely answering a question someone asked me as part of an AMA. I love Iceland and wanted to share a bit about it.

Was enjoying this thread but couldn’t be arsed now between you and @stuffedanimalsandchocolate deciding you should dictate how I spend my day, and what I look at.

Thanks to all the other posters. It’s been a nice chat.

@LucyLou72 I'm sorry. Flowers I just thought if I was in Iceland, the last thing I would be doing is posting an AMA on Mumsnet, but I get that you have put this here to share your experience, and probably have time here and there when you're just chilling for a bit - or in the passenger seat - to post on the internet

Please accept my apologies. xx

It’s not a holiday without ice-cream! Big fan of OmNom chocolate and finally got my act together enough to visit their ice cream place in Reykjavik before we left there.
Also grabbed a Kjörís Lúxus Karamellu Toppís earlier. Pretty decent.

Tell me more! OmNom were quite new last time I went there and there wasn’t a shop. It’s much easier to get it in the UK these days, although it’s been a few years since I’ve thought to order any. But I follow their socials and their ice creams look wonderful, which one did you get?

After a hot dog, of course 😂

How much do you budget per person per day for food/tickets etc? Is accomodation cheaper outside of Reykjavik? It's the place I'd most like to visit but I'm afraid of the costs.

Where did you visit? Any recommendations?

We only went for five days but visited The Blue Lagoon (a must- has to be booked way in advance), the cathedral in Reykjavik- there was a culture night on and a stunning organ recital happening. It’s a spooky looking building in a beautiful way. The steam geezers at Gunnuhver and the caves of Hella were great although that was just the corner of Iceland we managed to see on our short visit. Also the waterfalls and an amazing crater we stumbled across there.
