Do you know the difference between a knife and a spoon?

What’s something that would shock people about life in Australia?

PastorG · 19/08/2026 06:12

Was neighbours and home away really really popular in the 90s?

That spiders and insects really aren't that much of a big deal

Are you happy?

TappyGilmore · 19/08/2026 06:25

Whereabouts in Australia do you live, and what’s good about that area compared with other places?

My teenage daughter has her heart set on moving to the Gold Coast.

PastorG · 19/08/2026 06:22

Are you happy?

Yes. Depending on what aspect of life you're asking about

I'm about an hour north of the Gold Coast. We're close to lots of nice lifestyle things to do. Weather is perfect. Youth crime is increasing on the Gold Coast unfortunately

Why is your supermarket cheese SO BAD?

Am aware I’m going back a good few years, but when I was there all you could get in Coles was ‘cheddar’ and ‘tasty cheddar’ neither were nice.

Fair question! It is generally a bit rubbery unless you buy something super expensive from a deli

Unfortunately, largely since covid, yes

Is there much interest in Erin Patterson’s appeal?

Maybe locally. Nationally, the topic has dropped off the radar a bit

Do you have "jokes" about antipodes and people in the Europe walking upside down?

Poppycorn123 · 19/08/2026 06:49

Is there anywhere you'd rather live? Friends of mine think it's amazing that we can get to so many countries in a short space of time. We take that for granted in the UK I think.

Nope. A few decades ago, a little bit

Is the lifestyle true to how it looks on TV?
Great weather, Barbies on the beach? Everyone so laid back and chilled?

Where we live, yes. And lots of homes have pools. Such a large part of Australia is rural and remote so not so much. But very much an outdoors focussed lifestyle.

Good question. I'd love to live in Italy. I love their language, culture and architecture. I do think we have an amazing lifestyle here and great opportunities. But we also like to travel, and yes, it takes so long to go anywhere

I know two families who emigrated from the UK about 20 years ago when their children were younger. Bothe families struggled with homesickness for a long time because of the distance. As an Aussie born, do you feel you feel you are a long way away from everywhere else?
