My sibling is a celebrity AMA

I won’t be saying who they are.

I recently spoke to a friend about it who
had lots of questions which lead to an interesting conversation, things I’d never said or thought about before.

When I was younger I used to feel incredibly jealous of them and had a very short and unsuccessful attempt at creating my own fame.

Now I’m older with my own dc and have seen the effects up close I definitely think the negatives out way the positives and it’s not something I would ever want for my children.

Do people try and make your life about your sibling? Like, just a silly example, would you get a t shirt with siblings face on it as a "joke" gift in Secret Santa?

I suppose what I am asking is whether other people see your sibling as the most interesting thing about you, and whether that is hard to deal with?

Agree that if sibling’s field was / is reality TV there are very few people who’d be recognised across the UK, whenever they go out.

Similar in sports, even footballers!

I have a famous sibling-in-law. Just hopped on to say you are lucky. We hardly ever see ours, they are always jetting all over the world. We get a message on birthdays and they were very generous to my children growing up. I’d like to see them more though. My friends always ask about them and I have to fill in news from my in laws rather than admit I haven’t seen them for a couple of years. They are lovely when we do see them, just we are way down in their list of priorities I think.

I disagree. Also OP said the sibling only really gets recognised in the UK, KP gets recognised in the states.

@zedtree when would you say your sibling was at the peak of their career? You can give a decade if you’re not comfortable giving specific years.

Not music or acting. Well known in UK, recognised whenever they go out. Not internationally famous. ‘still works’ but not as much as they used to.

Not answered: whether sibling is rich (but says they have PA, nanny, chef which implies they are); and whether they became famous through a skill.

There was a great one with a person in a successful band several years ago. Never did work out who it was, but it was far more interesting back when people were able to engage a bit more.

It wasn't interesting, it was extremely boring.

Are they funny? Would they be a good laugh down the pub?

Did they see an advert or know someone who got them into the industry?

Have they ever had a tabloid scandal or headline about them?

Have they done an OK style photo shoot?

I imagine it’s someone like Kerry Katona or Katie Price given they’re not singers or actors but have been on reality TV and sexualised.

Their fame has definitely not helped them but equally I’m not sure either would agree. I’d find it hard to be a sibling of either.
