Hoping for some advice please. Looking to get a once a day suncream for three very fair people going to Turkey in August. I have used p20 before but found it really stained our clothing? I’ve looked at Calypso but not use it before so any help or suggestions would be really appreciated. Thank you

None of them are good enough for just once a day applications. Just buy the normal one or if you want a one a day P20 but you’ll need to apply it more than once.

Also this is in AMA so you might not get many replies.

We've used it before and I seem to remember it being the same. DS is very fair and has just done a week hiking in 30+ degree heat and he used Altruist for the first time and said he didn't burn once and that it was amazing. He messaged me to tell me so must be good! We've been using it too in the garden and more than impressed so far.

Calypso is very good and does not stain. But I reapply it at least once. I am also v fair and never get burnt, but I also cover up and wear a hat. Calypso is quite harsh on the face so you’ll probably want a separate facial sunblock. Altruist is good.

I didn’t find P20 stains if you apply it naked to bare skin just after the shower and let it dry thoroughly before dressing. I’ve done this for triathlons etc it’s not the “nicest” for your face for normal days tho

My sister in law swears by ultrasun , it’s very expensive though . The sport one in particular she said doesn’t stain .

Ultrasun extreme heat (factor 50).

Thanks everyone, I wasn’t planning to use it only once a day but thought in the heat it would last better than normal one. Giving calypso a go.

I use calypso once a day and have no problems with it, enjoy your holiday x

dontmalbeconme · 10/07/2026 08:35

I'm very fair and use Calypso once a day, but apply it about every 5 hours. It works really well for me, and I much prefer it to P20.

whiteroseredrose · 10/07/2026 08:47

We used to use Ultrasun. Applied before breakfast so a good 30mins before going outside.

The DC didn’t burn at all, and they are fair skinned but equally they were indoors or under an umbrella between 11.30am and 3pm as advised by our Spanish friends.

Calypso user here too & it works well for us but as other people have said I apply it liberally & a couple of times a day. Also agree that the gel is pretty hard on the face

chipsandpeas · 10/07/2026 10:05

i normally use the calypso one it dries in quick but use a seperate face sunscream as feel the calypso one makes my eyes sting a bit

singlepringle12 · 10/07/2026 10:19

Another vote for calypso - I haven’t burnt using it and do apply a couple of times a day. Does anyone else find it bloody stinks though?! I tried it on my face once & never again, I use my DDs F50 for face now. It stings like a bitch! However, if you can get past the smell & use something else for your face, I like it, goes on easily & once dry doesn’t smell.
We used to use Piz Buin which was amazing but they discontinued the one a day one, I was gutted!

I‘be used Ultasun for years I’m started when one of my teenagers was really sensitive to all other sunscreens as a baby and find it excellent. However, if I was in the water for a long time or dried myself vigorously would definitely reapply after and especially abroad.
TK Maxx often have bottles in store for a really good price, I always buy if I see them there. The sport gel is excellent, but please don’t use on your face as if it gets in your eye it is so difficult to get out. I train just by the family 30 which is good for all of us but they do do a 50 extreme version.
