Well yes, but the rest of us just see the badge and don’t actually know how much you spent on it.

The badge won’t imply wealthy, they’re actually relevantly common now, even if yours was expensive.

That is exactly the reason we chose the cars we did.

Do you have your own boat to get to IoW or do you rely on ferries? If so, have they got any more reliable recently? We used to go lot but got absolutely fed up with all the delays. We only go there now if we are on my parents yacht.

Hotpants123 · 06/03/2026 16:21

OMG what a bunch of sour faced women on this thread.
Sounds like a great life and you are very comfortable and making the most of it.
Great that you are married, you did the sensible thing and hopefully you are protected for life. I trust your DH is a good man, you are both happy and you know where all the money is.
I am independent and the main earner, I would love to have a$2M house paid off and a holiday home on IOW (or a Greek island). I can appreciate your life.
Enjoy it, get the cleaner in and book another holiday!

butterpuffed · 06/03/2026 16:23

Most PPs on here have obviously taken a bitch pill today .

Iho · 06/03/2026 15:46

Why comment then?

Think she gave the answer within her reply, 🙄🧐.

Howdoidoit100 · 06/03/2026 16:25

What have you done to protect your future financially should your marriage breakdown?

Catwalking · 06/03/2026 16:27

How old are you?

Crunchymum · 06/03/2026 16:27

You might get less hate if you post in the actually AMA subforum?

You can report your own first post and ask MMHQ to move the thread.

I love that some people don't consider this person rich!

onelumporthree · 06/03/2026 16:30

Everlil · 06/03/2026 15:53

Why the IOW?! I’m not sure I’ve been anywhere so dull. If you had a bit more disposable income, would you have picked somewhere a bit nicer to have a holiday home?

Yes... and the trouble with people having holiday homes in UK tourist destinations is that it destroys the housing market for local people born and bred in the area who can't afford to buy or rent anywhere to live. All the 2nd homes, airbnbs and holiday lets are destroying communities, and homes are pretty much left totally empty for half the year.

I think you are getting a hard time. I think someone not having to work and still have luxuries like holidays, holiday homes and nice cars is rich. I also live in an area where 2m house is pretty bog standard but most arent mortgage free. Its not something I would want to do, but I am interested.

My questions:

  • what do you do all day
  • do you have children even if they are at school or older
  • if you do, what example do you feel you are setting (not goady, there may well be a million other great examples you are setting)
  • do you worry if he left you or would you be left comfortable in the event of divorce
  • with a £600k role it is likely that he travels a lot and/or works a great deal how does that impact your relationship
  • do you have a group of friends in similar situations?

I usually spend the first few days of the week cleaning the house which is quite a task. I do lots of gardening. I like cooking. I visit family. Go to the odd appointment, I've recently started having laser hair removal sessions on my legs, pits and pubes. 😅Sometimes I just have a lazy day a binge Netflix.

2 boys who are late teens. I think they have massively benefitted from me being home so I don't think they view housewives in anything but a positive light.

I would be ok in the event of divorce.

He works from home the majority of the time so we spend lots of time together.

No. All of my friends are working class girls as was I, so I like to treat them when we get together.

OP you made the cardinal sin of calling yourself rich so posters will fall over themselves to call you not rich whilst simultaneously calling you tone deaf 😆

Do you ever worry about younger women trying it on as your DH earns well?

Iho · 06/03/2026 16:33

What are you passionate about ?

My animals, interior design and gardening.

How do you fill your day. What is an average day for you? Do you do any charity work?
I'm so jealous btw 😂

SleeplessInWherever · 06/03/2026 15:55

I have to say, if I was “rich” I don’t think a Merc would be my car of choice, or at least I wouldn’t consider it representative of my “wealth.”

Someone I employ has a Merc… she’s on less than £30k.

I have a Merc and I'm a state school teacher! 😂

AwayADay · 06/03/2026 16:34

dancingredshoes · 06/03/2026 15:48

If you’re that rich and have such a fabulous life WTF is missing in your life that you felt the need to start this thread on Mumsnet?

My thoughts exactly .

MagdaLenor · 06/03/2026 16:34

Why don't you work?

SleeplessInWherever · 06/03/2026 16:35

@Iho

Do you think they view working women as positively?

It’s possible, likely in fact, that they’ll meet future partners who want to work. I’d be interested in if they’d be accepting of that, particularly as they’re boys so would fall into your husband’s role here?

keepwakingup · 06/03/2026 16:35

I suppose it is all relative. Hundreds of millions isn't just rich it is mega rich in my opinion

You are only rich on MNs if you are Jeff or Elon

£2M mortgage free home.
Water front holiday home on the IOW.
2 Mercedes.
DH earns £600k pa.

What does your DH do for a living?

SleeplessInWherever · 06/03/2026 16:35

MagdaLenor · 06/03/2026 16:34

I have a Merc and I'm a state school teacher! 😂

I used to employ an agency TA who had one that daddy had bought her 😂

keepwakingup · 06/03/2026 16:37

@Iho do you think your DH would earn similar today if started out now because it’s so much harder to build wealth via property now?

Iho · 06/03/2026 16:37

Everlil · 06/03/2026 15:53

Island life feels slower and this appeals, plus the sailing. I suppose we could have opted for a holiday home abroad but the faff of getting there was off putting.

No I wouldn't like to work ever again. I find ways to occupy my time that are more enjoyable than being stuck at my desk for 8hrs like I was before.

Thank you. I meant more things like volunteering or just doing something for the local community or help disadvantaged people a bit?
How do you mainly spend your time?

Iho · 06/03/2026 16:40

answersonly · 06/03/2026 16:04

I'd suggest marrying better next time so you can afford something comparable in zone 1 or 2 and Rock instead of IOW. x

It was a toss up between the IOW and Cornwall actually. Cornwall is just too far away to get to quickly if you fancy an off the cuff weekend.
