Well many people in MN will indeed wonder why the OP feels her situation is worthy of an AMA? For most 'rich housewives' or people in general, the last thing you would feel the need to do is post your financial details as if these are something to be marvelled at on the internet. The £600k salary doesn't make sense anyway, if the DH is self-employed.

His salary doesn’t make any sense any which way.

If he’s an individual developer (which doesn’t explain the 30 employees) for a clear £600k in profit, he’d be overseeing projects with a GDV of £3-10 million He’d be managing multiple sites simultaneously or one or two multisite (ie flats). He wouldn’t be self-employed though he’d set up an SPV ie Ltd company so that he can pay corporation tax rather than income tax.

He would still re-invest his annual profit to build assets.

Really?? Who would have thought?

Presumably you or you wouldn’t have bothered making your post.

Presuming is something you seem to do well.

Carry on.

Backatcha. Go on then what point were you actually making?

So one person rather than people? How did they get the 2.5m house?

They bought them. How else would someone get a house. And yeah it's people not one singular person.

You are definitely overthinking this. My guess is the OP used salary as shorthand for income. In which case he could making many multiples of the figures you are considering and reinvesting all that on top. Who knows? It wasn't the point of the thread and it seems a little stalkerish to be trying to work out the particulars of the OP's husbands business by trying to piece together clues and assumptions.

And? The conversation was properties over 2 million, and how “millions of people” live in them, which is incredibly false.

The upper estimate for properties liable for the 2M mansion tax is only 150k. A far cry off “millions of people”.

Edited

No that wasn’t the conversation that was one erroneous claim made by one poster.

The conversation you came in on and quoted was discussing £2M value properties so I’m not sure why you tagged me to bring up 1M. Totally irrelevant.

They could inherit it. So they went from high earning enough to buy a 2.5m house to UC.

You then say ‘they’re a very honest person’. That’s not plural.

Yeah I was talking about the one I knew more closely. I believe them both though. One might have inherited it but I think they just both bought aons ago and never had much money bar that.

Multiple people who have been so cash rich or so high earning they have paid off a 2.5M property only to have almost nothing in savings and quit to live off universal credit 😂

I answered that I know two people in this position. You can disbelived me until you're blue in the face.

In what way were you referring to that, because there are not millions of people living in a property of over 2M.

How come you say you don’t know their personal information

yet somehow you do know that they own 2.5 mil properties outright and claim UC? Is that not rather personal information?

Who would I be stalking OP did a runner last night?

And I already covered the multiple figures option @ 14:15 post.

Here’s the thing: if you say my DH is a wealthy lawyer and then make claims that to a lawyer sound really odd, then be prepared to have them evaluated. Otherwise don’t post.

I think the bare minimum of an ama is that it is actually true.

Well that's the bit I do know because I believe them. I'm not a private detective?! I know how much their properties are worth roughly and one is a family member.

They could both be lying through their teeth and secretly not be on benefits I suppose?!

My point is… you clearly know them rather well for them to have told you that they own their 2.5 million pound property outright and claim universal credit.

My response was that the conversation was not about how millions of people live in 2 million properties as that was simply a claim by 1 poster which wasn’t actually true.

You might have a point if it was 'AMA I am a property developer and draw a 600K salary' but it really wasn't so your preoccupation with how the OP's husband structures his business remains very odd.

But that’s the whole basis of her housewifery lark - so if that doesn’t add up the entire thread collapses.

Not really, how the income is structured is irrelevant but you crack on with your forensic investigation!

HelenaWaiting · 07/03/2026 17:04

I have quite a few wealthy friends. I have never met a wealthy person who describes themselves as "rich". You get the occasional "successful" and a few "can't complains" but they seem to regard "rich" as a descriptor as pretty vulgar. This is not the only thing you've posted that's given you away, btw.

What you mean is you don’t understand its significance and that’s fine.
