Ask me anything.

Are you in love with your husband?

What sort of people do you mix with? Do you get any snobbery from more old-money / public school types?

Do you have a pension in your own name?

Are you very thin?

It's over 10x the average salary. What on earth do you mean it's not noteworthy?

Thinking the same. It might not be private jet, full time housekeeper, salaried chauffeur or chef level of global super- rich but it's a heck of an income.

Iho · 06/03/2026 21:42

Eufyon · 06/03/2026 20:19

Your kids might want to
and an inheritance sure as heck won’t cover this I believe the boys will be wealthy enough that their children won't have to worry for money after inheritance.

not even close

You have no idea what assets we have or will have. You seem angry for some reason.

It's a lot of money but it's not 'real housewives' type money like some posters are suggesting. No one is going to make a documentary about it.

£2M mortgage free home.
Water front holiday home on the IOW.
2 Mercedes.
DH earns £600k pa.

My BIL/SIL have a £3M mortgage free home, and earn more than your DH and they certainly don't call themselves rich. Just well-off.

I can't think of a question as just find it a bit mundane, had you said you were worth £50M+, I'd have been intrigued!

mjf981 · 06/03/2026 21:44

I call BS on this. '2 Mercedes.'
Reminds me of Hyacinth Bucket.

Why are you so insecure that you have to post here seeking validation?

Exactly

SoftDay · 06/03/2026 21:45

Hi, OP. My question is whether you feel a particular pressure to stay slim and very in shape? I mean, a lot of women feel a self-imposed pressure in this regard and others enjoy keeping slim and fit for health reasons and as part of self-care/self-esteem, but I've often wondered if wives of rich and successful men feel a greater "burden" in this regard. Are you always hungry? 😁

This question undoubtedly is more a reflection of my own insecurities and biases than of anything you have said!

Do you do your own housework? Do you enjoy keeping a nice house? I'm a poor housewife / carer. I hate doing my housework because I can't stay focused.

I also don't resent rick people. It must be so lovely to have nice things and security. We are doing a wet weekend in a caravan for my sons birthday now.

Do like Selfridges?

I do my own housework. I don't get off on hoovering but I do enjoy sitting down to a clean and tidy home once it's done.

I tend to shop directly from the designer online.

Are there lots of other properties you own or a really significant investment portfolio or other wealth vehicle you haven't mentioned? Because that potentially changes the wealth bracket you sit in - and the whole conversation here.

goz · 06/03/2026 21:47

ProcrastinatorsAnonymous · 06/03/2026 21:38

Correct. Maybe we would once the kids are old enough to appreciate a really exciting holiday - but for now, we have a week at Center Parcs (which is insanely overpriced anyway if you ask me!) and the kids love it.

Full disclosure: we maybe spent something like that on our Honeymoon, I can't remember!

Oh come on. 1.2million a year apparently and 1% of your income on a two week holiday is too much, get a grip.

Yes, it is one of my greatest joys. Getting them all back in one piece is hell though.

Yes this is my idea of rich, buying all the plants without a thought... and having the time to plant them and watch then grow!

But you’re not a rich housewife. You’ve just got a rich husband who supports you with his money. So really you’re just a housewife. Not a rich one.

Your BIL is out of touch then.

Anyone who claims to be a lowly barely comfortable middle class worker on over 600k a year is comical.

No one is saying it makes you the richest person in the world, but it’s far beyond comfortable.

MagdaLenor · 06/03/2026 21:50

Do you like those Catherine Cookson dramas, or would you prefer police procedurals?

FullOfLemons · 06/03/2026 21:51

Thanks for the thread OP.

Its rainy where I am too and have found the questions and answers interesting.

Mine is do you worry about your kids not being as successful as you and your DH ?

This is for me this is the biggest challenge with success i.e. how to pass that hunger and desire to succeed on. The Chinese have a saying “paddy field to paddy field in three generations”

I note you have said they have done well in exams but IME that is the easy bit …. climbing the corporate ladder or being an entrepreneur are hard work and require something else.

andthat · 06/03/2026 21:51

FatCatSkinnyRat · 06/03/2026 19:42

Exactly. Or maybe the question is more - does your husband get bored of your inane convo about housework and cooking? Would you not like a mentally stimulating job to give you something to talk about?

god can’t think of anything more morning than banging on to people I don’t work with about my job….

She's not, they're not even wealthy 😑

Sunshin80 · 06/03/2026 20:28

Hi, sounds lovely. So your home is completely mortgage free, does that include the cars and zero debts etc. Is it more assest rich if he is a property developer, do they all have mortgages on or do you have a crazy amount cash in the bank to play with. Was it done completely self made or money from inheritance that set him up.

Yes mortgage free. We have no debts. Both sets of our parents are alive so there has been no inheritance.

Yes, the English have similar- something along the lines of:

1st generation starts it
2nd generation makes it
3rd generation spends it

And it's quite often correct, although often the various offspring have differing fortunes.

Arraminta · 06/03/2026 21:56

goz · 06/03/2026 21:37

Oh come on, this is just facile now. 600k is in the top 0.1% of earners in the UK.
Even 600k joint is still incredibly rare, don’t be ridiculous.

It's amusing isn't it. So many on here are contorting themselves so hard to demonstrate that a £600K salary isn't all that, that they're going to wake up with back ache in the morning.

Sounds to me that the OP is level headed, living a really lovely, very affluent lifestyle and enjoying a good marriage. And my God, on here, people will hate her for it.

grooveraidiator · 06/03/2026 20:37

Do you have enough money to take private jets several times a year??
Do you donate direct to charities?
What do you spend your money on?
Do you have a jewellery collection worth £1M +
Are you a stereotype: thin, white and hair coloured blonde?
Do you feel your balance of power is equal or in favour of your husband?

We could afford to fly on private jets. We don't.
As in direct debits? No.
Nice food. The house. Plants. I like shoes and bags.
No. I don't really have a jewellery collection. I have my engagement ring, wedding band, eternity ring, a nice bracelet and necklace and some diamond earrings. Maybe worth £150k.
No, I'm size a size 12 brunette. I am white.
I don't feel a power imbalance.

I can understand that poster’s irritation. If you claim to be rich you need to be rich or people will just be bored and disappointed.

So, you don’t have much in savings, do you have an investment portfolio in which case how much?
