Just had breast reduction surgery

As the thread title says. I've just had breast reduction surgery (this morning, Monday 22nd December)

Private clinic and I'm based in Spain, so some aspects may be different than in the UK.
Ask me anything (especially if it helps anyone who's thinking of having it done, or has the appointment booked already!)

How big were they, and how big now? Why did you have it done?

I went from UK size 36E/F down to a 36C.
I had it done as they weighed heavy and gave me horrendous back pain.
I'd had a larger than average chest since my early teens, and I always had a comllex abiut my chest size, so I decided after a consultation to have the procedure done.
I'm glad I did.

how painful is it at the moment

thaisweetchill · 22/12/2025 22:37

How much did it cost?

Honestly, a LOT less painful than I expected it to be. I'd say a pain level of 3/10. I am on a cocktail of paracetamol and strong pain killers though.
It feels like muscle pains the day fter a really long gym session (as weird as that sounds!)

Did you have to have drains in or did they do it without ?

I financed it. I'm paying 275 euros per month for 2 years, so 6K+
Not cheap but I feel its worth it.

No drains. Just a lot of stitches and bandages to soak up the blood. I'm going for my follow up appointment later this evening. They'll change the dressings and probably wash the area better than I managed to this morning.

Congratulations 😊.

Was it done under general anesthetic?

How long did the operation take?

What type of incision is it?

Did you tell the surgeon what size you wanted to be, or was it left to them to do whatever they could?

(I am hoping to get my BMI down enough to have mine done next year.)

Under general anaesthetic, yeah. That is like witchcraft! They put an IV in my hand, oxygen mask, told.me.to close.my.eyes and think of something nice. The next thing I knew.I was awake and operation done!
It took about 2 hours I think. I have incisions around my.nipple and under my breast. I've just had thr dressings changed and the wounds cleaned and they don't look bad at all. I'm really surprised actually.

The surgeon said it'd be a C cup yeah. I left.it to his discretion.

Glad it all went well. I'm a 34J and would love to go down to a C cup! Wishing you a speedy recovery

Maddy70 · 28/12/2025 04:20

How long is the recovery?

underthethree · 28/12/2025 06:49

I know you say you are “based in Spain”. Does this mean you live there full time, or are you there specifically for the surgery? If the latter- Are you paying for accommodation in Spain, if so how much more of a cost does this add? How many days do you need to stay there for?

wishing you all the best with your recovery! ❤️‍🩹

They've said I can go back to work on 8th January so about 2-3 weeks. Longer before I can return to the gym and do intensive exercise.
It's been a week now during which I've had 2 follow up appointments. I'm healing really well. Pain is virtually non existent. My period came on Friday and that was more painful than the healing!
