I have my closest friend on here and if she sees it she might want to add.
i have never been so terrified in the whole of my life.
Recovery has been brutal. I was discharged last Spring time.

I am here just to say you are not alone. I've been sectioned 3 times for manic episodes. The highs are almost fun the come down horrific.
Hope you are doing OK. I've been 10 years since my last episode.

I am curious to know how your employer reacted to this? were they supportive?

I just about avoided having to go on a mental health ward 2 years ago after I had a complete breakdown (instead the local crisis team came to my house every day for almost 3 weeks) and this week my GP just signed me off for a month as I could feel another burnout coming.

My employer has been very unsupportive so I am interested to hear is that has been an issue for you too?

Thank you. Was recovery gradual? I’m pleased to hear it’s been 10 years.

I didn’t know I was becoming manic, it happened gradually and whilst manic I had so many driven and grandiose beliefs that I handed my notice in.
I took out loans and credit cards in the middle of the night. I don’t recall much of this time, only that I was not sleeping at all. Then the psychosis took over.
I found being in hospital (a PICU) unit traumatising.
I didn’t know I was unwell or in a hospital. I was rapidly tranquillised and also restrained (I believed they were after me to kill my children and to harm me.)
I was raped anally about 3 years ago, and the restraining by several men and having them pull my underwear down troubles me so much.

Look at ACAS and mental health which will advise you re your employer. Wishing you luck.

Gosh, it sounds like you have been through so much! you are very brave for sharing all this and I hope you are doing better now in term of your mental health.

Thank you. I now work full time for a crisis team/home treatment team.
I’ve not had therapy but this really helps as I feel like I’m using my experience positively.
Although I do struggle a lot. Especially at home when I’m alone. It was like my own mind betrayed me.

Apologies of if I sound a bit daft but what was the diagnosis? Have you been diagnosed with BPD and it got really bad so you ended up in psychosis or was out of the blue?

Edited

Bipolar Affective Disorder
I’ve always had mood swings, slightly manic times and sometimes anxious/depressed. But neither lasting that long.
i had so many stressful things happen in the lead up it just all went into a really intense mania then psychosis.
I ended up sectioned for 7 weeks.
