For someone who doesn't want to be outing, you've just unnecessarily given a very specific detail about your job! Well done on your house purchase though.

Completelyjo · 29/01/2025 05:57

What do you think people would want to know?

I thought it would be a common question

I know you are feeling very pleased with yourself, and well done you for buying a house. But, the smugness over something relatively normal is all a bit cringe op 😄 Good for you though.

How much was the house?

Runawaytrainer · 29/01/2025 10:55

What's a FTB?

ThejoyofNC · 29/01/2025 10:56

I think if you wanted praise then you could have just asked for it tbh. I don't really understand what questions there are to be asked.

Edited

It's not smug it's partly because a lot of people think it canny be done!

Okay so you don’t mean London you mean “London”.

Fetchthevet · 29/01/2025 13:36

Oh, first time buyer. I was trying to work out if you'd spelt Friend With Benefits wrong or something.

Living with your parents while you save all your earnings for a deposit counts as parental help

I didn't live with my parents

Well done! You're getting a rough time but I think that's a great achievement, and zone 3 london, 3 beds, is fantastic. Did you use a housing scheme? How much deposit did you have? How long did it take to put together? Did you feel you made sacrifices to save? Any plans for a lodger to help pay your mortgage? Are you a Londoner originally or did you move here?

Overthestar · 29/01/2025 13:58

Did you compromise on area in favour of space? (We did)

Everybodywantstoruletheworld2025 · 29/01/2025 13:59

Well done.

Don’t listen to all the negative comments, most of them will have been or still be bank rolled by their family.

Overthestar · 29/01/2025 14:00

@Everybodywantstoruletheworld2025 most of the negative Nancy's own kids might not be able to achieve what the OP has achieved. Seriously OP that's great, it'll set you up for a while.

RenovationNightmare · 29/01/2025 14:16

Good on you. I saved for ten years to buy my first flat in 2011. It's now harder than ever to buy alone. I'd be interested to know where in London you can buy a property like that for 290,000.

Crushed23 · 29/01/2025 14:19

Good for you.

I bought a 2-bed property in Zone 3 by myself in 2020 at the age of 31. It was a little over £290k though, so well done on finding a bargain!

I saved the deposit by myself, zero parental help, because I was a high earner. Mumsnet thinks we don't exist.

Ignore the negative comments, it's a great achievement.

It's a Reno project so lots to do and hence it was cheap! No scheme

I did sadly and it's an ex rental and a Reno, but I have friends who are in trades
