No doubt I'd get a load of shade about 'bragging' but that's not the intention. If anyone is interested in asking any questions about travelling regularly with a little own, feel free to ask.

I often travel just the two of us as his Dad can't get as much time off work as I do.

Most dangerous place you’ve been?

Scirocco · 13/09/2024 17:42

I'm gearing up for our first non-direct trip later this year (2 flights and a train ride each way) - any tips for managing this with a 2.5 year old, @Dinoswearunderpants?

Also, are those toddler handcuff things useful when travelling?

CremeEggThief · 13/09/2024 17:44

Why though?

If it's for experience he won't remember- he's too young!!

2Orangesandlemons · 13/09/2024 17:44

I think this is amazing. You are literally making the most of life for you and your little one. Life is meant for living and you will have zero regrets!! Good for you!!

Yeh, there's no way you've done all that for 'ballpark £20k' 😂

rainsofcastamere · 13/09/2024 17:45

We've been to all those places too OP with my son, including several more but he's 12 now. My favourites were always New Zealand, Alaska & Norway, until I visited Slovenia last month. It. Is. Stunning.

Beautifulweeds · 13/09/2024 17:45

Wow and great! You are a fellow travel lover, can never see too many countries. Your DC will of course have no memory of these trips but you will have the photos.

Nothing to ask really, you can clearly take it all in your stride to have done it so much. X

MugPlate · 13/09/2024 17:46

Dinoswearunderpants · 13/09/2024 16:41

I honestly don't know. Ball park figure maybe £20k.

OK av £625 per country / £6666pa.
If you can keep it up until 18, you’ll get to £120,000.

I’ve just looked at your list. You’ve got to go to Canada! Are you into hiking? Stunning and so family friendly.

Birdingbear · 13/09/2024 17:48

Are you not worried about the health side of things for your 3 year old? That's alot of flying in a short space. I'd be worried of their increased risk to blood clots etc. And all the jags they're having to have. It's alot of stuff being put through them in a short space.
I travelled the world before having a child and I always said that I'd take them to certain countries when they are at school, but now that my kid is here (hes 10) I refuse to take him anywhere that needs jags. Just feel it's unfair for me to decide this for him and he's plenty time later to decide. We stick to safe countries.

Dinoswearunderpants · 13/09/2024 17:48

Newsenmum · 13/09/2024 17:41

I think there is a lot of jealousy here.

Most and least child friendly countries? Any nightmare stories?

I kind of expected it. Sad really.

Most child friendly, maybe Switzerland and least strangely Italy as they didn't have a cot at our hotel and struggled with Hugh chairs at time.

She’s on flights that are already going, helping the tourism industry of many different countries and educating her child.

That’s interesting around Italy. Do you find some places are more or less accepting of children being around? And how they behave? I’ve heard France isn’t great compared to Italy.

Dinoswearunderpants · 13/09/2024 17:51

wafflesmgee · 13/09/2024 17:41

Why so many? It seems totally excessive. I prefer quality over quantity, like staying in one place/country for longer to build up relationships with locals/friends, learn the language and understand the culture better. Do you worry that your experiences are superficial snapshots?
Do you have a tick list and just tick countries off for the sake of your list, or dp you research places you are desperate to go to?

No of course I don't worry about any of that. We're having a lovely time and that's all what matters.

What's your average monthly income from social media related to your travels?

Beautifulweeds · 13/09/2024 17:51

Dinoswearunderpants · 13/09/2024 15:51

I fully expected all the climate change comments. I assume they are all coming from sustainability Queens who never buy from places such as Shein/Temu and either drive an electric car or better still, cycle everywhere.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...

I didn't! Lots of people fly, some planes are practically empty! People want to travel, some have to, it's not like what you hear about celebs who have a whole plane to transfer their wardrobe and props.

Of course the environmental factors, same with everything, but with journeys available, yes we do use the opportunity. Have those protesting ever driven a car, put out rubbish, gone abroad? Just because you've done it morecthan the average, those seats would be taken and the planes would fly regardless. Xx

MolkosTeenageAngst · 13/09/2024 17:52

How many countries had you visited before having your son?

SilverPiscis · 13/09/2024 17:53

Dinoswearunderpants · 13/09/2024 16:32

It's not all flights. Often it's cruises and sometimes Eurostar.

If you have any scientific evidence of this radiation, then please share the research paper with me as I'd love to consider it.

Flying exposes you to radiation. If you are cabin crew, you stop flying from the moment you know you are pregnant, for example. It is called cosmic radiation.

TheFlyingButtress · 13/09/2024 17:53

Really enjoying this notion that air travel has zero environmental impact because the planes are flying anyway 😂😂😂

Dinoswearunderpants · 13/09/2024 17:53

Newsenmum · 13/09/2024 17:42

Best and worst airports for kids? Plane snacks?

Ever get tired?

Heathrow T5 has a great softplay area near the lounges so it doesn't get busy.

Snacks are whatever is favourite at the time but babybel, raises, crisps, buttons and carrot sticks are usually a safe bet.

I suspect - just a suspicion, mind - that enough people stopped flying, there would be fewer planes in the sky and less weight in air transit therefore using less fuel.

The idea that our actions don't make any difference is daft.

We just spent a week in Portugal for just over €3k!

I would have guessed nearer £50k for all of those trips!
