I don’t know if waxy is the right word actually. More like a purple tinge

Madagascary · 15/12/2024 18:21

purple Does not sound good

It’s all healed so feels odd that something should go wrong now

Blimmingboobs · 15/12/2024 20:00

Is it from poor circulation? Are you cold? Have you tried massage?

I’ll try this thanks

Thank you, these are exactly the kinds of ideas I wanted to find out so very helpful, thank you! I know everyone is different in their recovery but that’s why it is so helpful to hear what each individual found useful, as preemptive fact finding 🙏

As a student nurse I watched a breast reduction operation, it was brutal. I followed the lady through her hospital stay and could see why she was so sore immediately after surgery, it made me a better nurse.

Ssmiler · 16/12/2024 15:44

I’m day five here and notice a little oozing from one area of the wound underneath. Feel fine generally. Is a little oozing normal and can I wait until I see the nurse in two days time to mention it? I had noticed from the beginning that I didn’t think the tape was completely covering that part of the wound so may just be related to that?

In other news I am black and blue from the lipo - I will be interested to find out on Wednesday how normal that is but I have a feeling mine is more on the extreme - it’s all down my side spreading from front to back and more than halfway down to my waist! I’d add a photo but can’t be bothered undressing again and to be honest I don’t know how to! Maybe tomorrow 😁

Unlike my C-section, where I wanted to know every tiny detail of the surgery and watched videos etc. I had zero desire to know what was to happen during my reduction. I can imagine it is brutal viewing Confused

I noticed a little bit of oozing from part of the wound at a similar time post surgery. The nurse wasn't concerned when I saw her for the wound check as long as it wasn't painful, red, pus leaking etc. She said it's the part of the wound that takes longest to heal. I had gauze on that part of the wound rather than just tape so she told me to continue with the gauze so some air could get to it. Which was a bit of a pain as I couldn't get it wet so washing was a challenge for a bit longer. But it did the trick.

So as long as there's no sign of infection, it should be OK to wait two days imo.

Thanks @CornishYarg thats helpful. I just noticed when I went to wash the bra there’s a fair bit of dried in ooze on the nipple area too of the same side. I can’t see if there’s any redness as I have the “papier-mâché” full breast taping system with just the nipples peeping out. But no other sign of infection so will maybe see what tomorrow brings. The papier-mâché comes off on Wednesday also I think. Thank you

Blimmingboobs · 16/12/2024 19:34

I was oozing and weeping all over the gaff for weeks. It’s only finally stopped after 6 weeks.

I literally had to soak my bra off a few times. Two nurses didn’t think it looked normal but neither the plastics nurse nor surgeon seemed too bothered. They only seem to be worried about infection.

But as we all have had different surgeons and possibly even surgeries I’d say best to check if you are concerned.

Blimmingboobs · 16/12/2024 19:36

This may sound bonkers but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced similar: if I take a gulp of a hot or cold drink now I can feel it going through/down behind my chest. Never felt that before the op 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sorry @Blimmingboobs no ideas on that one. Thank you for your answer on my oozing question - it was very reassuring. I had my first dressing change today and they are happy enough despite the oozing here and there as there’s no redness or other infection signs.

They were not alarmed at the fact that I am black and blue across such a wide area from the lipo but did say it was on the extreme side of normal!

I don’t know if I said but I haven’t needed any pain relief since day 4 and only a couple of paracetamol on days 3-4 so I’ve been lucky re pain. I have an appointment to have my hair washed tomorrow - I would be fine to do it myself but somehow don’t like the idea of the mucky hair water running over my wounds - it’s been a week since it was washed. 😝

As an aside, the nurse I saw today is having the same surgery including lipo with the same surgeon in a couple of days.

If anyone can reccomend me a surgeon, pref around London, would be very grateful. Sorry if this has been asked before.

veiledsentiments · 31/12/2024 15:46

Used David Floyd in Harley Street for YD. She had the operation in a Nuffield in Highgate. He was excellent, but the wait was long. Made the initial appointment over the phone in May, he couldn’t see her for her first consultation until November, and she had the operation in March. There were no complications, and less than a year on you can hardly see any scaring. The whole thing was close to £14,000. Best thing ever.

Madagascary · 31/12/2024 16:49

We have discussed at length though the extra price you pay for surgery in London. I can’t remember what the difference was. and my surgery was two years ago so the price will have changed but it was several thousand pounds.

If you are able to travel out anywhere, (my surgeon for example operates in Basingstoke which is only an hour away from West London, )you save yourself several thousand pounds.

Mine was recently with Simon Smith in Essex (Chelmsford) for around £9k.

Not too far from London but I did get a bit fed up with the traffic / journey.

However seems like it saved me a fair bit from going into town (still a lot of money though! But I do feel it was definitely worth it).

Boopear · 31/12/2024 20:01

I went to Anita Hazari at the McIndoe in East Grinstead which is doable by train. It cost about 8.5K and she was fantastic (as are my boobs 😀) I had my first apt in July and the op in November.

These threads have been super helpful and I am now 4 weeks post my reduction operation with no real issues - though I do agree it was quite boring for the first two weeks! My surgeon provided 2 compression bras (Lipoelastic ideal) but the elastic rolls up and rubs against the scar. Any recommendations for alternatives please?

Blimmingboobs · 02/01/2025 07:50

Sorry to say that pretty much all of the bras I have tried have rolled up in the same way.

I was told to tuck a bit of fabric dressing (gauze) under the bra band but personally found it more comfortable to use an adhesive dressing over the more sore areas.

TheDayBeforeYouCame · 02/01/2025 09:27

Thanks for confirming what I suspected! I have used dressings so far so will just continue with that for now.

I always recommend these as they have a super wide band, much better than the ones surgeons recommend

Oh yes I’ve not tried those as they were not in stock in my size

Lauraellferg · 20/01/2025 23:31

Hi all! Hope everyone’s well.

question! I’m nearly a year post op… the size when I came round was amazing! Felt tiny but as the year has gone on unfortunately they seem to be getting bigger they are way off what I asked for And the left is one cup size bigger than the other 😳 and now looking back at pictures it’s always been that way but I hadn’t notice as still healing etc! I spoke to my surgeon and he didn’t have much to say apart from he’ll see me again at my one year check! Has anyone else had tbis 🫣
