What’s your plan?

Littleguggi · 23/12/2023 22:53

Where have you moved from?

Starlightstarbright2 · 23/12/2023 22:54

Are you female ?

I loved Egypt but was harassed by men and I don’t know anyone who has gone without a stomach bug .

How are you finding it .

BananaSplitsss · 23/12/2023 22:55

Out of curiosity why Egypt?

No offence meant but I went there for a long while whilst travelling and as a caucasian female I found it nothing but stress as I was constantly harassed by men.

CleopatrasNeedle · 23/12/2023 22:58

I have moved from the UK and went to Egypt because that's where the job offer was. I don't particularly get hassled by men at all but they can be extremely pushy and overbearing when shopping for example. Yes I'm female.

Oh yes I did get a bad stomach bug. Took me out for a full 3 days.

I'm a European living and working in Cairo. Are you in Cairo too?

DidIMakeaMistake · 23/12/2023 23:01

I was never right after my Egypt tummy infection messed me up

CleopatrasNeedle · 23/12/2023 23:02

@Winter3000 I am yes

I got the trots 3 times in the last 18 months in Egypt. Lasted no more than a few hours each time.
Yes the men can be pushy but it's better just to laugh it off. Egyptians have a good sense of humour and like to laugh and chat.

Littleguggi · 23/12/2023 23:04

What's your job?

I live in Maadi. Where do you live ?

Stresa22 · 23/12/2023 23:05

Have you made friends with Egyptians?

CleopatrasNeedle · 23/12/2023 23:06

@Winter3000 not sure I want to narrow it down really

I wouldn’t move to Cairo but I found Aswan a lovely place. I wouldn’t mind moving there.

I'm going to Aswan on the 1 Jan for 5 days.

CleopatrasNeedle · 23/12/2023 23:07

@RunningFromInsanity I've heard nothing but good things about Aswan. Cairo is a tough place to live.

No worries. I'm glad I live in Maadi. It has pretty much everything I want and need.

I like Zamalek too.
Wouldn't really fancy living in New Cairo - there's not much to do there.

There's definitely bits that are challenging but I wouldn't consider Cairo a hardship post
There are lots of beautiful things here.
The food is great here too.

CleopatrasNeedle · 23/12/2023 23:12

I'd hardly call this a hardship post what are you on about

You said you find it tough.

CleopatrasNeedle · 23/12/2023 23:14

I do. Does that make it a hardship post?
