Do you ever go to stay and play/ toddler groups? I have a degree of social anxiety and find these quite overwhelming!

How old were you when you were diagnosed with autism? I was 16, and I always feel like I don't belong in either the "diagnosed as a child" or "late diagnosed" camps.

Pretty sure I have autism (with affective empathy), I need to find a way to get tested.
Have bad anxiety.
Have a 2 year old and a newborn.

It's hard, isn't it. I'm already dreading them starting school, not sure how I'm going to cope.

Yes!! It’s really weird because I’m not good with many other people and it’s even worse in groups but we go to a few different toddler groups and stay and plays!! I found it hard to stay home all day though so it helps in that way as does having a routine. I rarely talk to the other parents though and haven’t made these lifelong friendships promised by the baby group advertising 🤷‍♀️

I was 25. I was actually diagnosed when I was pregnant! I think I waiting a couple of years for the diagnosis after the process was started though 🤔 Did you get any help when you were diagnosed? There doesn’t seem to be much on offer unless your rich 🫣

What is affective empathy? Where do you live? There should be an NHS diagnostic service near you if you’re in the UK!

Do you think that’s because of the change it will bring to your life? I’m not looking forward to mine starting school at all and it will be so weird to be away from him 😰 What is it like having too little ones?

Why did you make this thread?

Most autistic people are anxious by definition. Most also have children. I don't really understand what sort of questions you think people might have when your situation is very normal.

I have really high level of empathy. I can feel other peoples emotions if I let myself and it can be crippling to me.

In England. I believe it would start with the GP but I'm nervous to approach them to ask in case I'm fobbed off.

I think it's because I'm nervous for them being bullied/upset which could happen and I can't take them being hurt in that way!

My second is much easier, it's just difficult when they need something at the same time, or my eldest is hyper. And trying to make sure they each feel like they get attention.
