As above, ask away!

How easily do you recover from your pregnancies? Does recovery get harder the more babies you have? How do you manage sleep deprivation and having to look after the other kids?

I ask because after my 2nd child I felt weak for sometime afterwards. I didn't feel physically optimal until about 2 to 3 years afterwards.

chilliplant634 · 29/03/2023 15:16

Sorry, I just realised that I assumed you have 8 children with 8 pregnancies. How many children do you have?

thymewaster · 30/03/2023 11:02

@chilliplant634 no worries I have 2 children

In my teens I had a miscarriage then onto an abortion as had just split from rpartner at the time.
Years later found my dp, got pregnant & miscarried but then got pregnant 3 months later (ds) 2 years later had another miscarriage then 3 weeks later pregnant again (dd) almost straight away pregnant again decided it was too soon so abortion again then this year pregnant again but due to complications had to have yet another abortion.

I feel the pattern with me is that I am very fertile haha. But no more babies for me now due to health reasons

Why didn’t you sort better contraception rather than use abortion as a contraceptive?

foreverbasil · 30/03/2023 11:21

That's a really unpleasant response

What a vile thing to say

thymewaster · 30/03/2023 17:58

@Anotheroverreaction wow. Ok.
Well the first second and third time I fell pregnant I was on the pill... fourth pregnancy planned (ds)
Fifth and sixth planned (dd)
Seventh I was on the pill
And eighth was also planned
I am now on different contraception...

Four unwanted pregnancies while on the pill is extremely unlucky. I hope you’ve found a solution that suits you better going forward if you’ve decided/ had to decide on no more children.

MaybeBabyTwo · 30/03/2023 18:07

Four pregnancies whilst on the pill is unbelievable.

thymewaster · 31/03/2023 08:45

@Anotheroverreaction @MaybeBabyTwo yes well just before first two pregnancies in my teens I would be out drinking and induce vomiting from my hangovers so y'know.
Before Third pregnancy I was on antibiotics and cocodomol which at the time I didn't realise that could prevent pill from working properly
And before Seventh pregnancy I probably missed a pill or two as I know I wasn't I'll or anything

Some of us are basically guaranteed to get pregnant from sex without contraception. Plenty of people take risks, I know from talking to female friends.

Toomuchwine89 · 01/04/2023 13:37

Hey, me too!
6 babies
1 abortion
1 miscarriage

Lucylou876 · 09/11/2023 04:20

At what stages did u miscarry? How do you deal with the anxiety after you get pregnant that you dont miscarry

HauntedGusset · 09/11/2023 06:00

Cocodamol has no effect at all on hormonal contraceptives, just for anyone else reading who might be worrying!

So you don't get pregnant on the pill as 4 times would be extremely statistically unlikely.

You've got pregnant as you haven't used the pill correctly. You've either been sick on it and not used other contraception to cover.

20 years ago as a teenager at uni I was told to use condoms whilst on antibiotics as it compromises the pill. It is widely known and I can't believe you weren't told this.

There does seem to be a sense of pride in this but it's just irresponsible.

RosesAndHellebores · 09/11/2023 06:25

Five here that reached the second trimester. I have two children. At least four early miscarriages. Every pregnancy was planned. Every loss was heartbreaking.

ColleenDonaghy · 09/11/2023 06:27

I suspect having so many pregnancies isn't actually that unusual - I have several friends who've had terrible times with recurrent miscarriage and I suspect one has been pregnant far more than 8 times for her 3 children.

Pollywoddles · 09/11/2023 06:34

I’ve been pregnant 8 times too! 7 losses and finally a baby.

I find the OPs tone doesn’t properly convey the gravity of some of the choices she’s made and so I’m finding it difficult to read. But I’ve had a lot of losses, that tends to change your sensitivity to people’s attitudes to these kinds of thing.

hurlyb · 09/11/2023 06:49

This is an old thread.

I am struggling with this idea too. I have got pregnant every time I've not used contraception, which is twice, intentionally. I recognise how fortunate I am in this respect and that it's not everyone's experience.

I know not to take any chances so I don't, as for me, abortion would be an utter last resort and far harder all round than organising myself or my partner to use reliable contraception in the first place.

I'm sorry for everyone who's experienced a loss.

Mystro202 · 09/11/2023 07:03

Wow I'm shocked that abortion is used so often elsewhere, but that is probably because I'm Irish and we never had access to abortion until recently. I still don't think it's something I could do but luckily for me I never found myself in that position. I also would have been told by doctors as a teenager that the pill could fail if antibiotics were taken or vomiting and that in this circumstance another barrier should be used too.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 09/11/2023 09:03

I find the OP's nonchalance quite shocking but then I've only ever been pregnant once despite years of trying and endometriosis so maybe that's why
