I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D.

Crack on with any questions!

@user80 well that sounds very positive & thorough to me and you are progressing quickly too.

user80 · 21/04/2023 09:44

@Singletrackmind Yes - so far, so good! 🤞🏻

One thing I need to ask about is BMI. The criteria for NHS is BMI between 25 and 27. I was slightly surprised as that’s outside the “normal/healthy” range, albeit only slightly. Mine is currently 25.1 but I’m trying to lose weight. So I need to find out what happens if I drop down into the 24s 🤔 (v unlikely to go any lower!). If it puts my eligibility at risk then obviously I will need to rethink the weight loss for now.

For those with private experience, what was the BMI eligibility for you?

Bigtitsbetty · 21/04/2023 17:53

Personally I think I’d prefer one surgeon and a high volume one but if they regular do some sort of breast reconstructive surgery then I’d be ok. The advantage of two surgeons is that you’ll be under anaesthetic for less time.

I can’t remember exactly about BMI, mine was 27/28 but I know the surgeon would’ve preferred it to be lower. I think I have posted previously so it should be on here. Advantage of being the OP is that you can filter my replies! I wouldn’t think that dropping slightly below 25 would be a problem though.

User, did they tell you why and how are you eligible? Quite interested

user80 · 23/04/2023 09:00

They didn’t @Madagascary but I had lots of questions about back, neck and shoulder pain so I assume it’s mainly based on that. Of course there are all the lifelong psychological side effects too, plus how it impacts on ability to exercise etc. I think maybe a lot of people don’t even bother asking because they assume the answer will be no? Did you see your GP before going private?

@Bigtitsbetty you said in a previous post that postcode lottery meant you couldn’t have it done on NHS. Do they not do it at all in your area?

Bigtitsbetty · 23/04/2023 09:14

@user80 I checked the criteria for my local area and I didn’t fit it. I used to be a nurse so I’m used to reading things like that.
There were lots of criteria like pain, which I never had, and needing physio for a year because of the pain. You also needed to have BMI under 25 for year which was medically proven.

I can’t remember them all but to be honest I had the money so going private was ok. I’ve had a fair amount of time in NHS hospitals for other surgery over the years so I was happy to go private.

Bigtitsbetty · 23/04/2023 09:16

@user80
They do offer it in my area but basically made the criteria so tight that no-one could have it. I just said some of the things that related to me.

@Bigtitsbetty or notsobigtitsbetty
I wondered about the sexual side of things? I know you said they’d lost some sensation but wondered how that impacted in the bedroom?

Madagascary · 23/04/2023 10:03

You’re right no, but I don’t think I could claim chronic back pain or inability to exercise, so would’ve felt a bit deceitful

Bigtitsbetty · 23/04/2023 10:29

Like @Madagascary i couldn’t have lied, maybe exaggerated. I just hated the way I looked and that I couldn’t get clothes to fit. In retrospect I can see the physical limitations I had but I was unaware at the time.

OP posts:
Bigtitsbetty · 23/04/2023 13:58

@fourelementary There’s no real impact. I had major gynaecology surgery a few years ago and that wasn’t really an issue either. It’s just a bit different.

I think the scarring is probably the most difficult part to process as visually it’s less attractive but I have lots of surgical wounds so they’re just new scars.

At least you didn’t have lopsided tits and not notice for most of your life 😂😂😂

Singletrackmind · 23/04/2023 17:02

Lols .. mine are definitely not the same size! I didn't even bother with the GP/ NHS route. I've done enough research to see that that if you taking a strictly criteria based/ 'medical' stance on it, there are people out there far more needy than I am.

I think if you watch the Sali Hughes reels (someone linked them way back on this thread) her reasons are pretty much mine. I really don't care how I look naked and neither does he. Like @Bigtitsbetty I have a bunch of other scars to be going on with.

I absolutely hate the weight of mine, I'm constantly conscious of them, how they get in the way of the exercise/ sports that I do, how I've spent my whole life dressing 'around' them, trying to hide how big they are, wearing expensive/ tight bras, gasping to expand my ribcage. There's also probably lots of other psychological shit ... I was young developer and I think you become sexualised far too early when you have huge tits, being a teenager in the 80s certainly wasn't much fun.

ButterfliesnWaterfalls · 23/04/2023 22:23

Hey all, I’m considering getting this done. I’m 34G. 5’2” and around 11.7stone.

Anyone get this done from around East of England area and if so, how much did it cost?

Also - how much weight will I have to lose?

Is the different noticeable to others straight away?

Also - if you have a big belly… does it become more prominent once boobs go down?

Bigtitsbetty · 23/04/2023 22:49

Hello @ButterfliesnWaterfalls

Prices vary between £7-12k from what I recall on the thread so far.

I’m a similar build/height/weight to you. I would recommend getting to the weight you can maintain after surgery. Different surgeons will have their own criteria.

Some people notice but chances are you’ve probably had to wear oversized/poorly fitting clothes because of your bust so most people think that you’ve lost weight. I have a big belly but I still look slimmer than before.

Thanks for the reply! I’m going to try and save up for it and lose weight too at the same time. I’ve looked at the local private hospital and they offer overnight stay etc. I’ve requested a quote.

I know my family members will disagree and say no I shouldn’t get it done. 🤷‍♀️

Madagascary · 24/04/2023 19:20

I didn’t lose weight /need to and mine cost me about 9k

It seems most people get finance and pay it off monthly. I’d inherited some money.

Singletrackmind · 25/04/2023 21:33

@ButterfliesnWaterfalls your family don’t live in your body… just saying.

I don’t need to lose weight but there’s a good medical rationale for why you should before an op like this, so would if you can.

Cost will be around £10k for me… but I had a £15k quote from a London based surgeon. £9k seems to be the average.

ButterfliesnWaterfalls · 25/04/2023 22:01

Thank you ladies 😊 I will definitely consider it!

SuperSange · 28/04/2023 12:36

Hello; can I join in? I've followed for a while now, but have made my decision to start researching for a surgeon and save up with half an eye on next summer holidays (work in education). I'm in Hampshire, does anyone have any experience in that county? I need to lose some weight too, I'm currently BMI 32 I think. Flowers

SuperSange · 28/04/2023 12:39

@Madagascary , I'll pm you! Or I'll try. 🤣

Bigtitsbetty · 28/04/2023 15:30

@SuperSange Welcome.

The start of summer holidays would be a great time to get it done. It gives you plenty of time to research surgeons and to loose some weight. Most surgeons I met wouldn’t do it if your BMI was over 30 but you’re only a little bit over that so it won’t take long.

The hardest part is the wait once you’ve decided to go ahead!

@SuperSange I had mine done by Dr Crawford at the Hampshire Clinic last December. Really pleased with my results. Care team are fantastic too.

HoeAbout · 30/04/2023 07:27

I've lost a lot of weight and gone from a 42E to a 34D.

They're very saggy though and still look large for my size (10) so I'd LOVE a reduction. I'd be delighted if I was flat chested to be honest!! I'd love to be an A cup.

Thanks for all the info OP.

Singletrackmind · 30/04/2023 10:58

Wow @HoeAbout that's very impressive weight loss indeed. I feel you, I'm a size 10- 12 depending, but my boobs are 32 F/G and the weight means they are also pretty saggy. I would quite happily be an A cup but you do have to be realistic! Uplifted and smaller is what I'm going for/ hoping for.
