I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D.

Crack on with any questions!

Also I asked my surgeon what he cut out. Largely fat he said. So that’s sexy 😀😀

(god knows that came out of the liposuction. )

Thank you so much @Singletrackmind and @MaHHoosive

Saw the GP today who was happy to refer me (yay!) but said wait times for breast clinic even for urgent cases can be as much as a year 🤯 Did you get any idea of timescales for referral @MaHHoosive ?

Welcome to the thread @MaHHoosive!

The posters in the other thread saying if NHS refuses it doesn’t need doing clearly have no idea. Like I said on there, counselling was never going to change the physical aspects and limitations of big boobs.

I also think people are used to seeing surgically enhanced boobs not naturally large boobs which is a different thing altogether.

Thank you.
Yes I think for people who haven't experienced it, it's very hard to understand. Ironically I have been at both ends of the scale being a very late developer and teased in my teens for being flat chested, I don't know what changed as I was a D-DD for years, but as I got older they just got bigger and no amount of diet or exercise makes them significantly smaller

I joined the gym during covid and there were several moves in body pump I just couldn't do due to my boobs being so wide for my frame and just being in the way, even in a sports bra

Thank you so much @Singletrackmind and @MaHHoosive

You're welcome, not sure what I did but happy to share my story. If @Bigtitsbetty doesn't mind I will update the thread on my journey as it progresses?

MaHHoosive · 06/03/2023 20:42

I don't recall an exact timeframe but have a feeling I was expecting a year or more. It's been at least 15 years that I've struggled, over 10 years that I've really hated them, so a bit longer is worth it if it means the end is in sight.

Madagascary · 06/03/2023 20:59

I do pump. I can see my groin when I look down now. Previously obscured by tit

Singletrackmind · 06/03/2023 22:25

Likewise! But happy to contribute & I will also update as I go if it’s helpful. I’m on a 6 month countdown now, as I’ve said it’s of my own choosing, and in the scheme of things not that long to wait. I think it is important to have time to reflect, because it is a big decision, but honestly I fantasise every day now about a life without the weight & bulk.

Bigtitsbetty · 07/03/2023 06:40

I think this thread has been great for people sharing their journey. The more people the better IMO. It’s only going to be helpful to anyone considering surgery.

Kettlebell swings are now a possibility.

Agree

can we talk scars. I’m now just under 4 months. My scarring is REALLY fading. I’m surprised. Skin excision post lipo less

Singletrackmind · 08/03/2023 18:09

@Madagascary that’s interesting, what did your surgeon say about yours, is that normal or are you a fast healer? Guessing skin type & a whole bunch of factors will influence that for individuals.

Hi, I haven’t seen him for a few weeks. Next appointment is at five months in April

Madagascary · 20/03/2023 20:59

Just checking in to see how everyone is going. How long until surgery is for people waiting?

I enjoy every evening (when I get into my pyjamas) to go downstairs and have dinner and I don’t have to put a bra on!!

Singletrackmind · 21/03/2023 08:15

@Madagascary honestly a bit shit right now! I’m lucky in that I have very few peri/menopause issues but the one I do have is periods of incredibly sore, swollen boobs. It’s like some sick joke, I bulge out of all my bras/ dread anyone touching or bumping into me. If the surgery were now - as opposed to 5 months away I’d be saying just cut them off. It’s torture. How are your scars looking? Are you settled in your new shape now?

Madagascary · 21/03/2023 10:09

Scars so good. Just the skin excision from my axillary tissue is redder.
so sorry you’re pissed off. I know what you mean about wanting them gone

Very glad I asked for as small as possible

Singletrackmind · 21/03/2023 22:04

That’s good to hear & yes at my consult I said ‘small’!! Will be making that very clear when the time comes …

user80 · 23/03/2023 07:51

I have been referred by my GP 🥳 and have my initial appointment next month.

DP has put the idea in my head that it would be better to save and have it done privately than have it done on the NHS. He said he thinks a private surgeon would do a better job. Any thoughts, or experience please? I’m not sure this would have occurred to me but now I’m overthinking…

Singletrackmind · 23/03/2023 11:03

Great that you have a referral! It’s the same consultants working in both sectors. And you want someone with good NHS/ reconstruction experience etc so don’t assume that private is better. HTHs

Martinisarebetterdirty · 23/03/2023 11:12

Oooh lucky you @user80 , I’m going back to read your posts to see if I can get my GP to refer me, I’d love to save the 10k!

I don’t know anything about breast reductions but private definitely NOT always best.

Sometimes the clinics do not have sufficient medical cover by doctors at night. And sometimes if there’s a post-op emergency, you get transferred to an NHS hospital to deal with it.

Obviously there are issues in the NHS too atm. But at least your surgeon should have decent accreditation. Check this all out very carefully.

I would find out if your NHS surgeon works on a private wing of an NHS hospital which is the best of both worlds.

Mumsafan · 23/03/2023 11:42

I had mine reduced about 7 years ago on NHS. Best thing I ever did and now I can't even remember what it was like having massive boobs.

Itstimeforlunch707 · 23/03/2023 12:40

When I said clinics in previous post, I meant private clinics.

user80 · 23/03/2023 18:55

Thanks so much all. Yes I was frankly delighted they agreed to refer me and quite shocked I’ve got an appt so soon. No doubt this is the beginning of a long road of waiting lists, or they may even tell me at this appt that I’m not eligible. We shall see. I am reassured by all of your comments, thank you.

Madagascary · 24/03/2023 10:04

My guy doesn’t do any nhs I don’t think. Agree research the surgeon carefully. Plus the anaesthetist.
