Christmas is a nightmare with both parents refusing to just alternate each year.

It ends up in an argument most years with the children in the middle of some selfish tug of war between their parents.

Well I am a step parent and Christmas is fine. My partner and his ex just alternate amicably. It varies a lot..

I'm a stepmother. Christmas was never any kind of nightmare, even though DSD's mother lives on another continent. Just alternate each year, no problem. (DSDs are adults now).
