Sorry I’ve not been back to the thread in a while. The business is now incredibly busy, which is wonderful but really absorbing most of my waking hours!
Thanks so much for all your kind words. My parents are just awful people and I’ve really tried my best to make my peace with it. I do find today hard and I think I always will.

I do hope my parents have seen it and feel ashamed of themselves. But I know they don’t agree with the tv licence fee so I doubt they have watched it. They also don’t have any friends of family, so no one would have mentioned it to them.

Hi OP. I just found this thread after catching up with your Dragons Den pitch on iPlayer.

Like everyone else here can I say you presented brilliantly and your business looks great!

More than that though, as the fellow DD of utterly shitty parents, can I say what an inspiration you are? Watching you actually made me a bit teary. It's still such a taboo to say you're estranged from your parents, and it's so bloody heartbreaking and difficult, even as a middle-aged adult. There aren't enough positive role models. So thank you for talking about this, and showing how our shitty childhoods don't need to hold us back! Wishing you every success
