Happy to answer any questions, especially about the surgery etc

Definitely a thread I would have found comfort in when I was going through the worst time so hopefully it can help another mother Smile

What a lovely update, he sounds like an unstoppable little boy!😁

Libre55 · 30/09/2022 09:06

How wonderful! I hope he has a wonderful life!

ItsRainingPens · 30/09/2022 09:08

Beautiful update!

JuneFromBethesda · 30/09/2022 09:15

Oh dear, reading this thread on the train into work, got to your last few posts and suddenly I’m trying not to sob in public 😭 Well done you and Olly, all best wishes for the future!

katepilar · 30/09/2022 09:20

I wonder how did the doctors and you prepared him for the surgery, I wonder how much they helped to explain it to him and how much was left to you. Him saying "gone, gone" got me.
Great he is walking now, wishing you good progress!
Hope this thread and your other social media gave you the support you needed to work through this!

Letthesunshineonin · 30/09/2022 09:23

How wonderful. Ollie sounds amazing and you do too.

Lalliella · 30/09/2022 09:24

Just seen your thread for the first time. Congratulations Ollie! You sound like an amazing mum, thank you for sharing your story.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 30/09/2022 09:27

He is very brave boy from the support and love that he gets from his lovely DM.

Smsquared · 30/09/2022 09:34

Ah OP hadn't seen any of these posts until now but how heartwarming to read that he's walking now on his new leg. My 2 year old DS broke his femur in March and was in a hip spica cast for 6 weeks which was incredibly challenging for us to manage, but has made a full recovery now too. They really are such resilient little people at that age. Hugs to you all and thanks for sharing. I found myself searching for anything related to toddlers in hip spica casts at the time, so I'm sure other parents will find your post helpful. x

Wishing you and your son all the best xxx

Rhythmisadancer · 30/09/2022 09:43

yay, go Ollie. He sounds like an amazing little boy, totally adorable dinosaur story, what a little dude!

TreeFishFrog · 30/09/2022 09:46

Awwww! Bless Ollie, my 17yr old ds loved the ‘dinosaur eat it’ he thought that was brilliant! Well done to you all getting Ollie up and walking around. There will be no stopping him now 😝

Givenitarest · 30/09/2022 09:46

Brilliant. No stopping him now! Hope you’re feeling positive and relieved that he’s going to be literally running rings round you now 😁

Lalalalimbo · 30/09/2022 09:47

Fantastic update! Well done, Ollie!

doitwithlove · 30/09/2022 09:56

Wow, having read your thread @FHmama you have come over as an extremely caring person and a fabulous mum to Ollie.

Well done to both you & Ollie on how you have dealt with the situation

Three cheers for you both 🌻

Letsrunabath · 30/09/2022 10:03

Thanks for the update, I’m sure he will be giving you the run around very soon. Love how adaptable children are.

CurzonDax · 30/09/2022 10:04

Oh, I've only just come across this thread.
@FHmama - your comments, and updates, have been so inspiring. What a wonderful young man you have - well done Ollie on that walk!

Angelik · 30/09/2022 10:06

@FHmama just found this thread. I'm an bk amputee due to fh. Right side too. Obviously MUCH older than Ollie😀curious to know how rest of his right leg and left leg are affected?

Prosthetics vastly better than they used to be but provision is so dependent on geographical location. Which area are you in?

It is true kids get on with it. A prosthetist once said to my very young mum that they could put a bucket on a child and the child would keep going!

I expect now Ollie is moving he will be motivated to do more and more. I would caution against scooter as early PP suggested. You don't want uneven usage. It's a bit like having a crutch. If pain and tiredness sets in, that is the cue to stop.

And sight of his little leg so cute. I've still got mine from 44 years ago.

Haybo26 · 30/09/2022 10:12

I've seen your TikToks. You are both incredible.

spongedog · 30/09/2022 10:18

I didnt see your original posts but what a lovely thread. Ollie sounds like he is getting on with things amazingly well. And it has been lovely to hear about the success and lives of other posters and their families

S25 · 30/09/2022 10:24

Wow, what a story 💙You are an incredible mum and so brave it’s not a wonder that Ollie is such a superstar. He’ll be unstoppable now he’s up & about on his new leg! Absolutely love the dinosaur ate it!! Ollie truly sounds phenomenal and with you as his mumma he’ll achieve greatness in whatever he does. Thank you for sharing and being there for other families that might be experiencing the same, that is so kind and thoughtful of you xx

Nottogetapenny · 30/09/2022 10:26

What a little star you have! It’s so lovely to read he is doing so well, every credit to you for being so positive and this reflects on the way he is. You and Ollie should be so proud of each other. Bless you both 🦖🌸

OhFatty · 30/09/2022 10:53

Absolutely wonderful news. You both sound amazing. Wishing you both every happiness for the future

FHmama · 29/09/2022 21:56

Hi all,

Just thought I'd update you! Ollie took his first steps on the end of August and is now walking around everywhere. He is loving his new found freedom and always says 'no more pram mama, I walk!' So today we went to the shop without the pram for the first ever time. May have taken 30 minutes for a 5 minute walk 😁 but so worth it!

Thankyou for all your kind words.

@FHmama only just read this thread. Sending Ollie you and your family lots and lots of love 💕
