NC for this as I remained anonymous, which was fairly pointless as I did tell some family and friends and it spread from there.

Blimey op just wanted to say well done (silly when it’s pure luck but you know what I mean) and I really hope family stuff settles and that you remain happy. Blimey can’t even imagine (as if I haven’t many a time).

Pipsquiggle · 15/06/2021 17:43

Brilliant OP. I am glad you are enjoying your win.

I do wonder - in my fantasy life - if I won a sum of money like this would it be better to tell no one other than DP.
Although I am close to my siblings would it be better not to tell them?

Smoomins · 15/06/2021 17:44

What luxuries do you have in your new house? Did you go for anything luxurious eg swimming pool?

Do you have domestic help now, a cleaner/housekeeper/gardener?

Do you live off the interest of your investments or are you living off the capital?

Has your mental health improved with the increased security, or has it been a case of more money more problems?

ExhaustedGrinch · 15/06/2021 17:44

Have you ever had moments where you felt completely overwhelmed by the win? I always dream of winning, like most people, but if I did win I think it'd make me feel anxious and overwhelmed a lot of the time, I don't know why I think that though.

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:46

@Thewiseoneincognito

First of all, congratulations, I play the lottery by direct debit 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 and don’t begrudge a single penny because it either goes to worthy causes or to people such as yourself which is the whole point and I would absolutely love to win one day...🙏🏻

I have a few dreams that I would do if I won, my life would change quite drastically, for a start a move to the coast and start my own business like a small gift shop or similar, both of which are long term aims but it would just mean I could do them sooner instead of waiting. I would also give my sister and her family as much financial stability as possible and help a few others of course.

What dreams did you have before winning and have you realised any of them yet?

Is your money invested, do you live off the interest as the saying goes?

Has it changed you in anyway?

Sorry I find it such a fascinating conversation I could ask questions for days hahaha!

My biggest dream was buying a home. We grew up in a council house and I always rented. I know it's not a big thing but it was always my dream I regularly surfed rightmove looking for my dream home.

I have 3 holiday homes abroad which I do let and make a good chunk off of but otherwise I have no interest in being an active businesswoman.

I don't think it has, I used to be so much more frugal but I'm not as tight as I used to be. You might have to ask my friends though, maybe it has changed me and I'm just unaware.

Please ask, I wish I could ask other lottery winners the same q's because I'm sure they're different to me.

If it's a significant amount, why are you on here and not making plans, enjoying your new wealth?

cafenoirbiscuit · 15/06/2021 17:48

Have you felt lonely because you can’t talk freely about your win? Do you know other winners?

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:49

@Sometimesfraught82

Charity? Investments? How was the lottery in terms of offering you advise?
I do some charity work I have 3 holiday homes They were fantastic. I sometimes feel bad for the grief they get online because they were so incredibly helpful to me

How big is the house you bought to live in? Is it a massive 1.5mil mansion or a standard 3 bed new build

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 15/06/2021 17:52

@midsomermurderess

It's pretty obvious from the OP it was a while ago Confused She's not just going to sit on a pile of gold cackling like Scrooge McDuck.
Egeegogxmv · 15/06/2021 17:53

my father who I wasn't close to expected me to pay him for raising
OMG😯
did he name a figure that he expected??

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:53

@ravenmum

Are you in a relationship now, and if so do you think it is a different relationship to the one you might have expected?
No, but have dated after my win. They were normal relationships, just better quality of men!

I'd do that for at least the first 6 months though😂

Bobbiebigbum · 15/06/2021 17:54

Please tell me you will be leaving your son a considerable sum too. Surely you don't want your son to struggle in life if he doesn't have to. Your comments about your son made it sound like you're not giving him any or much.

Depechemodebiggestfan · 15/06/2021 17:54

I love this thread. I wish to win something..
I play Lotto instant wins games but the most I won is like £5.
I still can dream…..

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 15/06/2021 17:55

@Egeegogxmv 6 months at least Grin

FleetwoodRaincoat · 15/06/2021 17:55

Do you feel guilty when you see people that are desperate for money? For example, if someone has a child who needs money for an operation or something - would you donate money to them anonymously or do you have to become a bit hard? (No judgement here, just wondering)

TheSpottedZebra · 15/06/2021 17:55

What's the most surprising thing about being rich?

Interesting thread, BTW. Thanks for being so candid with the answers!

ScribblingPixie · 15/06/2021 17:57

Are you planning any exciting travel or adventures? Has it made you feel more adventurous, like the world's your oyster?

NCuserer · 15/06/2021 17:57

@VettiyaIruken

Did the lottery people try to pressure you into going public and / or make their support conditional on you going public?
No, they were very supportive and provided pros and cons of doing both. I always knew I would remain anon

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 15/06/2021 17:57

Did you go all out and buy a massive house, or just a decent size? How much do you think you have spent since the win in total?

PocketPenny · 15/06/2021 17:58

What do you tell people you do for a living?

suggestionsplease1 · 15/06/2021 18:00

It sounds like you could very easily give your son financial security with a very small fraction of your winnings. Is that not something you want for him, considering you have faith that he has a good work ethic and is unlikely to be reckless/ irresponsible with a windfall himself, much like you?

(Apologies if you have already helped him achieve security and a nice quality of life!)
