Thanks @Narrowboatmum1 very useful answer! For what it's worth I think it looks like a lovely, freeing lifestyle. I'm quite envious.

There was a gardener (Poppy Okotcha) talking about her life on a narrowboat the other day in case of interest. She said it's an amazing way to get a sense of how much energy we use on things and a really valuable insight into that.

I’m almost at the point where I’m going to be in the position to move to a narrow boat.

Did you do any courses beforehand. I noticed a few are available, mechanics, general practices etc did you do any of those or did you learn as you went along?
