I was a 'lower level' Scientologist for a couple of years. Ask away! 😊

Do they give you money?
If not just why?

OnceUponAnEnzyme · 23/10/2020 15:30

No way. That's how they lure out enemies to go on The List. I'm not falling for it Grin

p.s. does the list exist?

FAQs · 23/10/2020 15:33

How was you recruited? I saw people offering people personality tests or some sort of test, outside a church in LA. I wasn’t approached, probably because I had my dd with me.

Did you give birth during that time and if so did you stick to the silence rule?

What made you leave?

CoolYourBeansMySon · 23/10/2020 16:03

Why did you decide to leave?
How did you do it?
Have you met Tom Cruise Grin

ChickenDoughnut · 23/10/2020 16:05

They used to do ‘free stress tests’ on Tottenham Court Road. Is that how they got you, OP? Grin

AriettyHomily · 23/10/2020 16:21

Are you out? Did you really believe it?

Mo81 · 23/10/2020 16:27

Why did you leave?
What do sciantologist believe ?

MamaMoonbeam · 23/10/2020 16:29

@TheQueef
They definitely don't give you money.
I was curious and have an interest in different theologies!

@FAQs I had a scientologist boyfriend at the time but they get people in by offering personality tests or short courses on areas of a person's life they need a bit of help with.
So a person would fill out a questionnaire which would flag anxiety or confidence or managing money etc. They charge you £30 for a short course to help you gain confidence in this area. When you've finished that, they offer another area before you get in to the Dianetics course and that is the beginning!... Sneaky

@Butterer I had a boyfriend who was/still is a Scientologist. I moved away and left. This did not stop them appropriating my new, ex directory, mobile number a couple of times to call me and ask when I was going to take up the courses again....

OP posts:
Cheesymonster · 23/10/2020 16:40

So does that mean you're joining up without actually realising it? What's the Dianetics course?

MamaMoonbeam · 23/10/2020 16:40

@jackstini I didn't give birth.
I left because their mind washing methods didn't work and the more I got into it the more I felt like it was a scam...

OP posts:
MamaMoonbeam · 23/10/2020 16:42

@CoolYourBeansMySon I left because I felt like it was a money grabbing exercised directed towards those most vulnerable to exploitation.
I moved away, back to my home county.
Tom Cruise was at the Church one time when I was there but he was with the higher echelons...

MamaMoonbeam · 23/10/2020 16:43

I have read a load of books, watched films, watched louis theroux, all on Scientology because it is one of the weirder ones.

  1. Did not the adverse publicity (which you can't escape) put you off? If not, why not?!
  2. Were you at a low point in your life and that's why you joined? (It's just that my middle name is Cynic and I cannot understand anyone dabbling in this)
MamaMoonbeam · 23/10/2020 16:45

@Mo81
See PPs for reason why I left.
Briefly, Scientologists believe that everyone has the power to do, literally, anything just by training themselves to...

When you were having an auditing session did you know deep down that it was bullshit or did you start to believe in the e-meter?

Also did you watch Leah Remini's documentary series? It was fascinating and I think she is so impressive.

MamaMoonbeam · 23/10/2020 16:46

@Cheesymonster yep! It's one of the first courses that introduces you to the theories of LRH (L Ron Hubbard)

OP posts:
MamaMoonbeam · 23/10/2020 16:48

@Butterer @Roussette

I am stubborn and like to experience things for myself so wanted to go and see what the fuss was about!
