I am a care assistant in a privately owned nursing & residential home. I have done this for nearly 20 years.
Ask me anything...

Would you be happy to be a resident there one day (based on your experience of working there)?

Are the residents able to have visitors now?
Do any of them get no visitors anyway regardless of lockdown?

Yes- hand on heart I honestly would. Not in Previous homes I've worked in though.

We have been having appointment only garden visits. In the last couple of weeks we've been advised by the local authority about the 'second wave' & had to limit the number of visitors per resident. I think these visits will be stopped again in the week or so.

Sadly some of our residents have never had visitors, some don't have any family or friends. We also have residents who have huge families that live in the local area but still don't get any visitors.
