We're in our second lockdown. It's weird. AMA

Do you think a local lockdown will work or do you think people will simply travel to the next towns and villages for their non essentials? Possibly spreading the virus further.

GiveUsACoffee · 02/07/2020 01:16

There were warnings in the media today saying that they were going to monitor people leaving the city to go out. While I don't think this will be possible, I think most will be too fed up and annoyed to risk it

Are you planning on buying in extra food, etc, in order to minimise possible exposure to it? I ask because I didn’t go near shops for over three months, when it hit. (Vulnerable child)

GiveUsACoffee · 03/07/2020 01:17

No, not really. We were still getting through the last shop when this one was announced. So people already started bulk buying. We'll just make do as much as possible

I live on the very edge of the zone and I know of people who are risking it. People are actually fed of it all and a red thinking fuck it.

GrumpyHoonMain · 03/07/2020 19:50

I know people in Oadby who would love the border to Evington be policed 24-7 Covid or not !!

TheMammothHunters · 03/07/2020 19:59

How much notice did you get before the lockdown?
Do you know how they decided on the border- postcodes? Council district? Or something else?
What happens if you drive out of the lockdown area?

GiveUsACoffee · 03/07/2020 20:22

Why might that be @GrumpyHoonMain ? The main issue that is really problematic now is the finger pointing between the various communities.

Is Sizzlers (obviously shut now), still amazing? They used to do amazing chilli okra.

GiveUsACoffee · 03/07/2020 20:26

@TheMammothHunters We had a day's notice...with some hint maybe a day before that. It was meant to be the City border, though some areas of the county have been included. No idea how it is policed--there is some rumour that police will turn cars back from the border, but no idea how that might be enforced. Basically everyone has been told to stay put.

Haha! I've heard good things, but never been there myself!

I live a few miles outside Leicester. It's a bit worrying as lots of people commute in both directions. Do you think most people are following the lockdown rules? I know of a few people who have travelled from Leicester to get to work, and just wondered how much that might be happening.

I suppose I can only say what I see. We've all stayed at home, and the street I live on is completely quiet--no one going for walks etc. But of course, it's hard to gauge what's going on elsewhere. But there might be movement between City and County for those who cannot wfh commuting to work
