Consultant care due to blood results- what to expect?

I am a first time mum to be and currently 18 weeks pregnant. I had my 12 week scan and they couldn’t take the measurement behind babies head/ neck so could not have the quad blood test done. I had to go back a few weeks later and have blood test just for Down’s syndrome. The results came back as baby is in a high risk category. The next options are to have amniocentesis test, go privately for another blood test which again will just put us in a category and not tell us for definite or do nothing. From the start we said we would do any tests they advise but we won’t do anything where there is a risk to baby.
We said we would do nothing and was advised that was fine but we would move to consultant care but not to worry the extra appointments don’t start until 28 weeks. I then have had a letter at the end of last week saying I have an appointment with a doctor this week. It does not say what the appointment is for like all my other appointment letters have.
Obviously both me and my husband and worried and thinking the worst. Can anyone give us some advice about what to expect at this appointment or in general what being under consultant care for this involves?
Thanks in advance x

Good luck to you OP. I can't talk about tests but being under consultant led care just means you get more doctors appointments and more medical attention which I would only take as a good thing if they think you need it. Hope it goes ok for you c
