My son is a child model

I just thought people who might be interested may like to ask questions! I have a lot of friends who message me regarding his agency etc.

All I can say is; never pay to join an agency!

But other than that, ask ahead!

does your child enjoy/want to be a child model ?

How did you get into starting out?

AmateurSwami · 20/08/2019 14:32

how much has your child earned?

Do you have to travel far to castings?

Yes 100% he wants to be a model. I actually ask him every time if he wants to go to the casting or the shoot. It's always a yes. They have always been really fun!

He's currently done a few for Fatface and they are like a little family! My son loves seeing them.

I'd never force him to do it. Although as he is only 7 it can be quite tricky if we are on location half way through a shoot and he kicks up a fuss about something! But they are so so good with him.

I know all mothers think their children are beautiful etc and they are right! But with ds he's so charismatic and confident, I thought why not! So I did my research and found a few agencies (reputable ones) and emailed them.

My ds has around £9k in his bank account which is crazy! The pay is very good.

We live in Hampshire, castings are always in London. But shoot locations can be anywhere! They pay for travel and hotels/food.

My DS2 was a model. He was popular for castings but rarely got picked because he was bigger than his age eg he was the size of a 10 yr old when 8. Not over weight, sporty and mature looking for his age. It was difficult explaining to him that he wasn't picked cos the clothing line only went up to 10 and he was too big despite being the right age. There's not much work for teens because young adults can look like teens and are easier to employ so get the jobs above 13-18 yr olds. He did enjoy it though and still talks about.

Good on you! I did apply to one agency for my son but he didn’t get accepted, how does it work for mid week shoots etc?

@AmateurSwami you should try others! There's a few good ones out there.

Luckily school are fine. You have to apply for a licence to the LA, but they've never said no!

I may just do that! He’s always wanted to do it because he’s got it in his head he’ll be allowed to spend all his earnings on Lego Grin I’m not fussed if he doesn’t get accepted though, don’t think he’s too sensitive about it either.

Can you name the agency your DS works with OP?
