I've been blogging about perfume since 2013. Ask me anything. No snobbery, all budgets and nothing is off the table.

Thank you Flowers

BrightSpells · 09/08/2019 21:55

I love Britney Spears midnight fantasy Blush

Can you recommend something a bit more grown up!

BreakHerOffAKitKat · 09/08/2019 21:56

I love Anna Sui original perfume but it's been discontinued can you recommend anything similar. I hate all of the other Anna Sui scents, they are far too sickly but original is my all time favourite. Thank you!!

Qwertyguerty · 09/08/2019 21:58

What are the best chemical free perfume brands?

Why won't cacharel bring back Gloria? 😭

31RueCambon · 09/08/2019 21:58

Is there anything like eau de givenchy but with a bit more staying power!? 🙏🙏

MissBattleaxe · 09/08/2019 22:00

@hotbiscuits I love to wear Lanvin Arpege. It was created in 1927 so I channel elegant Parisian women of that era even when I'm unloading the dishwasher in 2019.

@BrightSpells wear your Midnight Fantasy with pride. I'm 49 and I love it!

I agree it is hard to get matching moisturisers

YesQueen · 09/08/2019 22:02

@fruitofthenight I really really love Kyse perfumes, they do a lot of sweet stuff. It's international but they do samples which are cheap and the customer service is exceptional. I'm not associated with them, it was just a breath of fresh air to find them!
4160 Tuesdays Mrs gloss is also sweet, and hashtag I love you (was at the perfume shop v cheap), maybe aquolina pink sugar too or gold sugar is caramel/vanilla

MissBattleaxe · 09/08/2019 22:05

@Qwertyguerty chemicals aren't all bad. There is potassium and zinc in bananas for instance.

I can tell you that all perfumes legally on sale today are tested for allergens and that some natural ingredients are far more likely to harm skin that safe, man made synthetics. For instance, if I peel a kiwi fruit, my skin goes bright red and raw, yet it's a natural plant fruit.

I've never had a reaction to man made perfume. Plus, I don't like to think of an entire acre of jasmine being harvested just for 1 ml of extract. Poor jasmine! Think of the bees!

I wish Liz Earle would do a no 15 body Lotion

Op I sniffed Tom ford fucking fabulous. What’s even near that? I loved

MissBattleaxe · 09/08/2019 22:06

@QwetyGuerty- I don't know why they won't bring back Gloria. Maybe it wasn't selling. I feel the same about Gucci Envy! Sob.

@YesQueen I've never heard of Kyse. I shall seek them out!

@MissBattleaxe thanks for the recommendations. I have Apres L'Ondee and Insolence, both of which are wonderful. I'm looking for the Serge Lutens one and will try Paradox. I too fell in love with violet perfume when I was ten years old from a little bottle of it bought in the New Forest on a school journey. No other scent comes close to violets in my opinion.

31RueCambon · 09/08/2019 22:08

Oh i loved Gucci envy! Anything smell similar?

YesQueen · 09/08/2019 22:08

@MissBattleaxe they do whipped soap (gorgeous for shaving) and body creams too

I bought one sample and went back for virtually the whole website BlushBlush

matahairyy · 09/08/2019 22:10

FF dupe ?

Loveluella · 09/08/2019 22:10

I love Ds & Durga Burning Barbershop but it's ££££. Is there anything similar?

Also...you must be expected to smell incredible all the time?!

MissBattleaxe · 09/08/2019 22:11

@SinglePringle, if you are near Liberty, you are very lucky! Try some Byredo (La Tulipe is fab), Comme des Garcons (they do a great incense "Avignon") and Frederic Malle. I love Portrait of a Lady.

My all time favourite is Bvlgari Jasmine Noir. I'm always wanting to try a different perfume but can never find anything I like as much.

Can you suggest anything in that vein that might be a good alternative? Thank you.

Ps, bloody awesome AMA!

MissBattleaxe · 09/08/2019 22:13

@Loveluella I live in South Wales and I couldn't look less like a perfume blogger. I went into the Fragrance Shop last week and asked for a spray of Ariana Grande Cloud. She asked what I usually wear and I said "Everything" so she told me I probably wouldn't like Cloud! (she was wrong, it's fab)

@MissBattleaxe a friend of mine had a perfume called Un amour de Patou, her grandmother bought it in Paris. It was by Jean Patou. It was gorgeous and I’ve never been anti find it. Any ideas?

Sagradafamiliar · 09/08/2019 22:16

Thank you for answering my first questions!
I keep debating whether to order Jessica Simpson's Fancy Nights. Are you familiar with it? I've heard it's surprisingly good but in what respect, I don't know. I'm curious about it

Do you know whether YSL's Yvresse was ever reformulated under a different name? That was my first bottle of perfume given to me by a friend of my mum but I think it was discontinued:(

MirzyMoo · 09/08/2019 22:17

@BrightSpells me too, i love Britney's perfume !

Quaffy · 09/08/2019 22:17

What would you say is the most distinctive and unusual scent? I have always thought Alien but my knowledge is far less than yours!
