I have just a full tummy tuck and lipo in Prague, AMA!

I'm two weeks post op and back home. Very pleased with the results so far, though have another 6 weeks of wearing a compression garment.

I have a friend who went to Belgium for their tummy tuck and that's where my research started. I chose Prague based on reviews, price and availability. I've recently taken voluntary redundancy so the timing was right to get it done.

I made initial contact and sent pictures for review by a surgeon. Recommendation came back and I was able to book in for 3 weeks later.

On the day of my op I went in and met the surgeon, went for health tests in the next room, was shown to my bed and a few hours later I was under the knife! The op lasted just over two hours and other than feeling groggy and a bit sore, I felt pretty good.

You're encouraged to get up and go to the loo as soon as you can, and whilst I was a little worried that I'd stand up and keel over, I was fine. Ok, I had to carry the drains from my lipo with me, but that was ok!

I was at the clinic for two nights and then moved to a hotel for the recommended 2-3 night stay before flying.

On those 3 days I was walking between 3-5 miles a day. Probably not for everyone but I was up and about and didn't want to be stuck in a hotel room.

I was given take away medication, bandages, gauze etc. They also have 24/7 follow up care via the phone if you need it.

Today I found I've dropped a dress size, even whilst still swollen and wearing compression.

AMA!

Million $ question - how much did it cost?

fuckitywhat · 14/05/2019 18:52

How much was it?

I'm jealous

Teaandbi5cuit5 · 14/05/2019 18:52

Did it hurt when they removed the drains? Really want to have this done but keep getting flashbacks of the pain I experienced when they removed my drain post c-section.

Also, how much did you weigh before the procedure? I understand that in order to undergo lipo you cannot be too overweight, is that right?

NoBaggyPants · 14/05/2019 18:52

What will you do if you develop complications or infection?

Teaandbi5cuit5 · 14/05/2019 18:53

Oh yes! I forgot to ask, how much did it cost?

MissDemelzaCarne · 14/05/2019 18:53

What was the plan for any potential complications when you were still in Prague and were would you be sent in you had any complications once back in UK?

Mrsbclinton · 14/05/2019 18:54

Have you had previous cosmetic surgeries?

Bloomburger · 14/05/2019 18:56

I'm probably same as you OP, had mine 2 Wednesdays ago, in UK though. Had abs repaired also as had separated from pregnancy. I didn't have drains from the lipo, the surgeon I used doesn't like them, hasn't used them for years as thinks it increases the risk of infection too much.

Am surprised how pain free I am and how much I can do.

MancaroniCheese · 14/05/2019 18:56

How big were you before?

TwinsTrollsandHunz · 14/05/2019 18:57

What practical use is telephone follow up care? If you have any post op complications you need an actual in person assessment, not a phone call from a distant surgeon or surgical nurse.

calpop · 14/05/2019 18:57

Did you book without ever meeting anyone from the clinic?

chuffnstuff · 14/05/2019 18:57

@MissDemelzaCarne & @fuckitywhat £3k.

@Teaandbi5cuit5 one of the drains did but the other didn't. I did nearly faint (though I am a lightweight) as I wasn't expecting it to hurt at all!

chuffnstuff · 14/05/2019 18:59

@NoBaggyPants so far so good, I'm healing well. If it came to it I'd pop back out there.

PunkRockHippy · 14/05/2019 19:00

Wow £3k is very decent value!

Did you have to lose weight first?

chuffnstuff · 14/05/2019 19:00

@Mrsbclinton no, this was my first.

OP posts:
chuffnstuff · 14/05/2019 19:01

@Bloomburger yes, I've seen some prefer drain free. I had intravenous during the op and a weeks worth of tablets afterwards.

For someone who isn't good with pain I surprised myself at how good I felt!

chuffnstuff · 14/05/2019 19:02

@MancaroniCheese size 16, now 14.

chuffnstuff · 14/05/2019 19:02

@calpop, no, but I did find someone on here who'd been to same place and is also going back for further surgery.

tedx · 14/05/2019 19:03

How did you do your research? Is just online googling "Prague tummy tuck"?!

chuffnstuff · 14/05/2019 19:04

@PunkRockHippy I wasn't asked to, though I had just lost shy of 2 stone by doing keto. I'm never going to be skinny, it's not in my DNA, but not having a saggy apron to carry round was my main goal. I wasn't after a washboard stomach.

OP posts:
Still18atheart · 14/05/2019 19:04

How long after the op did you home . Presuming you flew? Did you have to stay a while in Prague between hospital and home until you were well enough to fly?

How did you go about your research?

ShirleyPhallus · 14/05/2019 19:04

Can we see pics?

chuffnstuff · 14/05/2019 19:05

@tedx, pretty much! I just started with researching clinics across Europe in general.

What other stuff do they do at the clinic?
