We are now retired so money is not as available as when we were working. Is it better to book through a company or book apartment, flights and transfers separately.
Any help would be gratefully received.

The cheapest times to go on holiday are to avoid Xmas, Easter and all bank holidays and school holidays. You can book your own flights via Ryanair or easyJet approx one year in advance. Then book your own hotel. I've flown to Amsterdam, Denmark for less than £50 return by booking more than 6 months in advance. Cheapest deal I've had is £150 for a week in hotel +flights to Majorca ! In the off peak season.

However, I was looking at holidays recently and you will find that Turkey, Egypt are cheaper than the Canary Islands, if you are looking for a bargain. You could put your question in the travel section on MN too

If you book your own flights and hotel yourself. Don't forget that you will need to organise your own transport to your accommodation by bus, car, taxi. You can look on Google to find out how many miles to your destination. If you book a package holiday, the transfers are included or you can add them on
