It's Veganuary so why not!
Been a vegan for about 18 months

What are 5 go to meals for you? And what snacks do you eat often?
WutheringFrights · 06/01/2019 22:25
I own a shop and I love to try to keep all my customers happy - I already have a good range of vegan foods - what would you like me sell!?
Sinkingfeeling · 06/01/2019 22:32
What made you decide to become vegan? Were you vegetarian before you were vegan?
MrsFoxPlus4 · 06/01/2019 22:35
Is tofu nice? Iv always wanted to try it but I read you need to spend ages squeezing the water out lok
gamerchick · 06/01/2019 23:29
Is it just eating or do you drive/get in and be driven a vegan car?
EatsPlantsandLeaves · 07/01/2019 06:46
Ok so I'll try and answer in order
Favourite meals?
We do a wicked tofu paella- stir fried red onions and garlic, red chilli, loads of veg like baby corn and mange your, mushrooms and loads of broccoli, stir in brown rice and tofu at the end. Serve with soy sauce
Spaghetti with lots of mixed vegetables and red pepper sauce (lots of free from options for pasta sauce or Aldi's one is vegan if it's the pepper one
I love a lazy beans on toast if in a hurry! Baked beans are vegan (most varieties are) - I add Tabasco
For Xmas dinner we had nut wellington - home made amazing
I eat lots and lots of vegetables- the amount of food I eat is more than when I was vegetarian or during brief time I ate meat and I've not out on any weight
Snacks - fruit nuts I love crisps (most are vegan as long as no milk powder which is a vegans enemy as it's in so many things)

I ate meat till about 15/16 then went vegetarian
I started eating meat again about 3 years ago, dabbled with it and did enjoy it then went vegan
I don't take any supplements but use engevita yeast flakes with added B12 which are really tasty and like a vegan Parmesan. I eat pretty healthily with lots of veg and fruit so don't think I'm lacking anything. Got bloods done 12 months ago to check my levels and all ok

What to stock in your shop? Personally I think there is a lot of vegan junk foods being sold at the moment so healthy as possible
Vegan other stuff - cosmetics, non leather items ? My Partner got me a purse for Xmas that looks like leather but is made from plants but he had to get it online from abroad so that kind of thing I think will be more popular
Never tried the chick pea water thing

Mainly ethical and health - I didn't want the fuel and nutrients I have, filtered through an animal. I watched some videos of meat production and the dairy industry and it put me off cheese and milk for life. And I loved cheese. I still miss cheese - well the taste of it anyway!
Yes I was vegetarian first - it's an easy transition
My other half also decides to go vegan a month before - he was a huge meat eater. Being in a relationship with someone who ate the same as me is wonderful- been a source of big tension in all my previous relationships where I've been vegetarian and they wanted me to eat meat
No meals aren't a faff - going out to eat in a restaurant is a faff though. I carry snacks with me - but a banana is vegan and that's the easiest snack. There are many more things that are just accidentally vegan than I expected-
The transition has been way easier than I thought
EatsPlantsandLeaves · 07/01/2019 06:57
Do I fart a lot? I did at the start, less so now. Certain foods make me fart more falafels being one!!!
Tofu - I like cauldron brand of marinated tofu it's the best one I've found. Silken tofu is very plain but can be seasoned up and cooked to taste much like scrambled eggs that's yummy
I like garlic, chilli and stuff so flavour my tofu up
EatsPlantsandLeaves · 07/01/2019 06:59
For my last dinner (presume you mean last night and not the last non vegan dinner I had? ) my partner made a lovely shepherds pie. With vegan mince, mushrooms etc. Topped with mashed potatoes and with veggies and gravy. Accompanied with HP sauce (also vegan). Was amazing!
Don't drive a vegan car.....is there such a thing?
EatsPlantsandLeaves · 07/01/2019 07:00
My dreams are less vivid since I stopped eating cheese
flumpybear · 07/01/2019 07:31
How do you manage your food combinations so you get the nutrients out of plant based food that's hard to extract vitamins etc from?
