mate had this and she has been off work for 4 months. Her stomach was leaking

How much did it cost
Are you in pain now
How much do you have to lose weight wise
Will you have it out when the weight has gone ??????

I'm sorry to hear about your friend

did you consider therapy before this drastic, life changing op?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 20/11/2018 16:31

What made you choose a surgical solution rather than a diet based one?

makingmiracles · 20/11/2018 16:31

Didn’t you go private or nhs? I found private how much did it cost, if nhs how hard was it to get them to agree to it?

How much do you weigh now/what’s your target weight?

ReginasLeftFlangie · 20/11/2018 16:32

it cost just £5000, and im 4 days post op and a bit sore, but perfectly manageable. Just have to be careful when moving around, although this is encouraged as much as possible.

i want to loose about 8 stone and i havent made the decision if I'll keep it in when im at goal just yet.

i have had therapy yes, and i have had many successful times losing weight. I just struggle to keep it off, which makes me think i will keep it in.

i currently weigh 18.7, but I started at 20.01. I had a strict 2 week pre op diet to follow. I went private.

first post should have said just over £5000, not just £5000. I'm not that rich!!

How much food and drink does the gastric band let pass through?
What happens if you get food poisoning - can you still vomit the bad stuff?

ReginasLeftFlangie · 20/11/2018 17:12

yes if i was ill I would still be able to vomit up the bad stuff.

At the moment I'm on a 2 week liquid diet, and then it will be 2 weeks of soft food. Things like scrambled egg, mashed potato etc.

After week 5 i have my first adjustment and it depends on how much saline is in the band as to how much you can eat. There are approx 4-6 adjustments in the first year. The ideal is you can eat a restaurant starter sized potion for each meal.

What made you choose the band over sleeve?

domton · 27/11/2018 21:56

Did the fact you lost a stone and a half in two weeks not make you think bugger it, I'll do it this way and save the £5000?

Glad the recovery is going well, and hope it all works out for you.
