@Toofle I think Sure or Manxtelecom were just trolling themselves!

@aoexi
What primary schools and nurseries would you recommend?

Are there any parks in Peel apart from the dreadful windy one up the top across from the houses?

What do you do if you've angered the Mannan gods? Is there any redemption?

What can be done about the nepotism?

Why do complete cunts without children keep parking in the parent and toddler place in Tesco and what can be done about it?

What would you recommend visiting as a tourist?

Terf2Terf · 28/10/2018 11:20

I grew up there and we go on holiday every summer. It's brilliant for tourists, especially children!

I love the countryside, being close to the sea wherever you are, and the feeling of being 'home' but could never live there again - schooling is pretty hit+miss, standard of driving is dreadful, the small-town mentality of many residents is depressing, and getting off the Island can be a right pain.

Beer is cheap, though, and Davison's ice cream and The Creek make our holidays memorable

I nearly died when I went into ‘shopshite’ As my DH calls it and saw the prices 😮. We go at least once every year as FIL lives there.

Is the local radio still very parochial? It was all missing dogs and coffee mornings last time I tuned in, though to be fair that was getting on for 30 years ago.

Mum's local shop rite is good for reduced stuff, mostly Waitrose things that the locals can't pronounce or know how to cook 🤣 She uses the Coop much more now (when I was a kid it was Lipton!)
