Well I was until recently!

I’ve flown for 3 airlines. One in the Middle East, a low cost and then a very large British airline.

What is the worst thing a passenger has ever done?

What is the worst thing a passenger has ever done?

On one flight, a passenger did a poo and wiped it all over the lavatory. We locked it and put it out of use for the flight.

Do cabin crew and pilots all have romantic liaisons?
Is there a bit of a soap opera of who's shagging who?

Do you get to know all the other crew on your airline or do yeend up working with 'strangers' frequently?

NameChangedAgain18 · 31/08/2018 21:34

Is it true that Cilla Black was the most hated celebrity passenger amongst crew?

What do all the "dings" mean

Autumnchill · 31/08/2018 21:36

What's the most terrifying situation you've been in on a plane?

SittingAround1 · 31/08/2018 21:37

Obviously you're not scared of flying but have you ever had any flights which have made you nervous due to say bad turbulence, unusual occurrences etc ?

Do you get put always on the same destination or do you swap around a lot ?

It happens but never to me! Most crew are in relationships/married. I did once have an old Captain come onto me on a Newcastle night-stop but of course I didn’t sleep with him. A girl from my training course is now married to a first officer.

I barely flew with the same crew twice. When an airline has thousands of cabin crew you are unlikely to fly with them again soon!

Never met her myself but I’ve heard she wasn’t very nice!

Are there ‘secret’ crew rest cabins? I’ve seen them on tv (on bigger long haul aircraft).... where much shagging happens in tv-land, obvs

Autumnchill · 31/08/2018 21:44

What's the most embarrassing thing you've found passengers doing?

ViserionTheDragon · 31/08/2018 21:46

What was the scariest moment you've had during a flight?

Have you ever served first class and if so, what's that like compared to serving on a budget airline?

legocardsagain · 31/08/2018 21:48

What do you do for disabled passengers? Eg. Wheelchair users who have had to check their chair at the gates.

Do you have to stay until the disabled passengers have been collected and what do you do when it's a very long wait for them?

Anything else helpful you think disabled passengers should know?

Crystalblue13 · 31/08/2018 21:49

On your interview did you have to put on the uniform and lipstick and be judged on your looks? I’ve heard that about one airline.

Polarbearflavour · 31/08/2018 21:49

Airbus aircraft make a ‘bong’ sound shortly after take-off – this sound lets the crew know that the landing gear is being retracted - positive flight!

A high-low chime is the crew intercom. Each crew station has an intercom they use to talk to each other.

Three chimes a call from the flight deck.

Ooooh this is interesting! My questions have mostly already been asked though, but I do have one.

Are you trained to not outwardly show fear? As I am a nervous flier, and am always trying to read the faces of the cabin crew. In my head, if they don't look worried, then everything is okay- is that a good indicator? Grin

Ariclock · 31/08/2018 21:55

What's your experience of the differences between first class, business class and economy? I've never been in anything other than economy so am curious!

Polarbearflavour · 31/08/2018 21:56

What's the most terrifying situation you've been in on a plane?

Getting caught in the wake turbulence of a larger aircraft coming into Manchester Airport. We rolled from side to side and many passengers screamed and some vomited. It was very scary as it felt very unnatural.

I'm flying next week (4-5 hour flight) with my 2 year old for the first. Any tips on maybe the journey as stress free as possible for me and the people around us?

Polarbearflavour · 31/08/2018 21:59

I’ve been caught in moderate turbulence but never really been scared of that.

At my last airline you used to bid for routes you wanted but I never seemed to get what I requested! I did get sent to Helsinki, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt on night-stops all the time for some reason.

When I flew long haul I was on the Boeing 767 and we didn’t have bunks on those, just a curtained off seating area at the back of economy. The newer, larger aircraft such as the 787 and Dreamliner do have crew rest bunks. They are very cramped and cold!

Cilla Black used to fly Concorde a lot, she was absolutely vile to everyone.

Starlight345 · 31/08/2018 22:04

Who was the nicest and worst celebrity you met

Crystalblue13 · 31/08/2018 22:04

Did you enjoy it? Why did you decide to leave?

KnotsInMay · 31/08/2018 22:05

What is your view on 2 matters if extreme contention on MN:

  1. Passengers reclining their seats
  2. Families who have not paid to reserve seats needing it expecting other passengers to move so they can sit with their children.

And now, this wake turbulence business: is it actually safe? I bet I would have screamed!
