My newborn had open heart surgery

People IRL often have questions so I thought I'd give it a go!

Name changed as I don't mind being identified from this post but would prefer if other posts were not linked.

My DS has a genetic condition associated with heart defects. He had OHS surgery when he was 5.5 weeks old.

We didn't know about his genetics or the issues with his heart before he was born.

I hope you son has a speedy recovery!
My nephew had OHS at 4 days old. It now looks like he is going to have to have another. He is 10yrs now.
Do they think your son will have to have another or all good now?

@wheresthehope Sorry to hear your nephew might have to have another OHS.

We don't know if DS will need more surgery. Hopefully not, as his repair has the potential to last the rest of his life, but they had to rebuild one of his arteries and now it is kept open with a stent, so there is always a possibility that eg the stent will need to be replaced.
