Yes the rubbish island is a bit of an eye sore. You pass it as you leave Male by boat. Not sure what else they can do really as there is nowhere to send it - I guess they could ship it out - but to where?

No I didn't work at Cinnamon. I worked for Banyan Tree.

It was very close to Baros which is lovely as was Angsana (sister island) Lilly beach was nice but HUGE! It depends what you are looking for - BT was 48 villas and no pool very traditional. But there are islands with many pools and walkways etc. I personally would go for as authentic as possible to get the best experience.

I was there 11 years ago and wages were low I guess - e.g my salary was $900 a month however I had accommodation, food & transport included on that and any tips. There is nothing to spend your money on so it was great for saving! And as you worked every day it helped too!

I didn't expect tips but I know my male colleagues got upset if they didn't get any, but they had families to support.
