I prefer to swim nude, and do so in our local lakes and Atlantic Ocean.
I grew up in a sauna culture, and with skinny dipping.
I moved away as an adult, but have found plenty of nudist beaches and private locations, so I can still enjoy the freedom.

I know not many people partake, so I thought some people may have questions.
Feel free to ama

Why do you prefer to swim naked? Do you find it exciting?

NorthEndGal · 14/08/2018 19:32

Not exciting, but more freeing, and comfortable.
I feel much less self conscious about my body that way

I have a very average middle aged well used body , cellulite , strech marks , scars and lot. It can be hard to feel ok in a bathing suit, (at least for me) when it feels like you have to hide your bad buts and show off your good bits.
When you are all naked , everyone is equal.

Do you think saunas without swimwear will ever happen in the UK? I have experienced this in the Netherlands and it is much more comfortable.

Um, where we go on holiday there is a naturist section of an island..every year we say we will go there and go for it..we've never done it yet. We swear this will be the year. We love each other very much, and like Onslow and Daisy in Keeping up appearances we swear that we get more "devastatingly attractive" to each other each year. However, the general public are not going to feel the same..so any tips for doing it without sickening everyone?

I am in Canada, so I have no idea if the UK will ever give it a go.
Wild swimming/fresh water swimming (or swimming as we call itGrin ) is catching on more places, so maybe it will gain traction in time.
I do think people can get very "oh, but think of the children " but everywhere I have gone has either been while families where is women together and men together, or it has been adults only , and mixed sexes.

As to how to get brave and embrace your natural self? Just do it. There is nothing sensible you can say to yourself that will talk you into taking off your clothes if you don t want to! 😊
But if you get brave and silly and do it, you will find every single body is different, but the same, if you know what i mean?
We all have skinny bits and fat bits and scars and acne and lumpy veins , and every once in a while , there is the odd stunner, but nobody stares at them or that.
Everyone very much minds their own business really.

Disclainer:
Once in a while you meet a weirdo who wants to chat, but they can be easily shooed away.
It's really like standing in line at the grocery store. You get a full cross section of life. Now just imagine them all naked.
Now keep that in mind when you think about the ones that get chatty, haha!

Thank you [flowers} (I was joking about the devastatingly attractive bit, of course..but we do love each other, wobbles and all).

I studied at UBC for a year and we visited Wreck Beach, my first experience of a 'clothing-optional' beach.
To be honest even giggly British teenage girls rapidly got over the shock of seeing unashamedly ageing bodies. No one cares.

I did a polar bear swim there, but never went naked...

NorthEndGal · 14/08/2018 22:37

Haha no worries, I got yaGrin I'm a size 14 and dh is a big man, but honest, the surest way to get no one to notice you is to take off your clothes.

Wreck beach is the best, its on my list of someday beaches. I am on the opposite coast now, much colder, but i tell myself its invigorating!
