Just that really... hoping I can answer a few questions about my decision and the first few days (weeks if it goes on that long!).
Hoping it might help some people now or in the future.

Some more info:

  • I’m 36
  • I also had my right ovary removed and both Fallopian tubes. Kept my left ovary so shouldn’t need HRT
  • I have/had endometriosis and life was becoming too hard. Am hopeful this op will bring meaningful improvement
  • I have two kids
  • I was fortunate enough to have health cover through my employer so had this op privately....

Have toyed with the idea of an early hysterectomy due to severe pmdd. I am 39 with 3 children. Still wouldn't rule it out, just trying other routes first. How has the process been, in comparison with your expectations? Wishing you all the best, isn't easy from what I've heard x

Hi there,

Touching wood as I type but recovery so far has been better than expected. All luck of the draw I think, but I was expecting worse. I had a laparoscopy earlier this year so had imagined it to be a worse version of that experience. But if anything, it’s been easier.

I made myself promise to take all drugs offered and I think that might have helped a little!

The bigger downsides I’ve noticed are... I’m more tired and I feel much more nauseous than I expected. I’m still struggling to empty my bladder five days on which is annoying but not painful. I’m seeing some small improvements there too, which is good.
