Notabee · 22/07/2018 18:07

How long ago were you diagnosed and has anything helped?

fantasmasgoria1 · 22/07/2018 20:53

How do you control it? I take medications and I still get anxious!

choccybiscuit · 22/07/2018 20:58

What type of anxiety do you have? How do you keep it under control?

KingKongNoWrong · 22/07/2018 20:59

Any tips for day to day life?

Theshittyendofthestick · 22/07/2018 21:00

How can those around you help?

MalloryLaurel · 22/07/2018 21:22

I find it exhausting fighting the feeling of doom before I or my family (if they are without me,) leaves the house.
What strategies do you use to fight the feeling?
My anxiety sometimes isn't specific. Sometimes I wake up with it. Do you?

Gingerninj · 22/07/2018 22:35

What do you get anxious about
Anything really, could be as silly as walking to the shop around the corner to speaking infront of hundreds of people (not that that's something i do often). I guess it's just my brain getting worked up over it

How do you tell the difference between "being anxious" and "having anxiety"?

For example you mention speaking in front of hundreds of people but most people I know would get very anxious about that?

What i meant when i say it could be anything that makes me anxious, going to the shop round the corner being something simple that not many people would take must thought into to talking infront of hundreds of people being something most people would feel anxious about. Also I often don't have a reason at all for feeling anxious

Around 10 years ago now. I've been to see a few therapists over time but felt that didn't help much, I'd already figured out coping mechanisms that worked for me (listening to music to distract myself being one) and we often went over subjects that only made me more anxious. So i guess just figured figuring out what worked best for me helped

I have a habit of avoiding anything that makes me anxious but when i finally get round to it i try not to over think things. I just come up with a plan and stick to it, not another thought into it.

What meds do you take specifically for anxiety?

Apileofballyhoo · 22/07/2018 23:20

I have the shop thing too, OP. Sometimes I think the anxiety is a manifestation of buried grief. It's very draining.

Bananajuice · 22/07/2018 23:20

My 14 year old DD has anxiety. This also led to school phobia. How can I best help her from your experience?

blueshoes · 22/07/2018 23:54

Do you have a job and what are your coping mechanisms?
