Hi! How do you feel about banks increasingly encouraging customers away from branches to use digital channels instead?

How much do you earn?

Digital Q is difficult as there’s benefits all round to customers using internet banking ie not having to queue on lunch breaks/being able to do a mortgage at home in the evening. But I am hopeful there will always be a place for branch banking as people do like people, the issue is I guess, we need customers to come in and do business and buy products, cashing a cheque each week ‘to keep the branch open’ is in fact one of the most costful transactions to the bank and will do the exact opposite over time to a branch that isn’t balancing the books so to speak.

Do you know of rule bending or breaking in the lending side of things? Like falsified mortgage applications etc ? Are bank employees pushed to sell sell sell?

No rule bending with any lending or anything like that really.. we are the other way if anything I would say, branch staff have an ‘expectation’ which they have to try and meet but this does include servicing and doing things for customers which aren’t selling products. The expectation is way more achievable than anything it has been in years so I would not say they are under huge pressure to sell
