When did you first realise that things weren't right and what had you noticed?

ThinkingCat · 10/07/2018 23:10

I am sorry that this happened to you. How has it affected your relationship/s?

I first found something whilst (doing what men do) scratching my nuts one Sunday after waking up aged 35.

I mentioned it to DW and she booked me an appointment.

The Dr couldn't feel anything but luckily sent me for an ultrasound scan which confirmed something was amiss

I have been with my DW since we were 16, we are 44 now and she was always there throughout the surgery, chemo and endless hospital appointments.

We had the children prior to this and had already had the snip so fertility were thankfully not an issue.

Strangely enough it's now starting to be seen as a hormonal cancer, so many survivors struggle with low testosterone which can cause mood swings, weight gain and memory loss, do even 8 years later and now only yearly check ups it's still an issue.

Do you think men are less likely to check their testicles than women are to check their breasts? Do you think men are less willing to go to the doctor? If your partner hadn't booked the appointment do you believe you would have done it yourself soon enough?

Not sure, something didn't feel like part of me, so definitely would have gone to the Dr at some point around that time, Woman are rightly encouraged to self check, so maybe it's about raising awareness.

I am belong to a group of survivors who have members who are very good at doing this, going into schools etc.
