@dontknowwhattodo80 That sounds fine. I get major guilt because I put DS in front of CBeebies so I can vacuum now and then, so if a volunteer can come and play with him instead so I can get the housework done, that would be good!

@AdorableMisfit - don't feel guilty for doing that, needs must! But yes, I'd happily play with your dc to help you out Smile

Yes, she was meant to take me out and show me the area, as I had recently moved and was isolated. No family or friends locally.

She preferred to chat at my house. It was ok, but didn’t give me encouragement to go out. That’s what I was struggling with.

I don’t think she knew where to go either.

My second volunteer was only with me for a bit, but she took me out loads. Bit odd as she was a lot yonger than me, but we got on. She made me go out. Was a shame she was bored and didn’t want to continue as she was actually quite helpful.

Do you stay in contact / friends with any of the families once you have been moved on?

I am a Homestart volunteer too and I love it. I have been with my family for about a year now and I get on very well with the Mum. The children are adorable and I love watching them develop and grow. I can see the Mum getting her confidence and identity back now which is wonderful. I will be sad when I am no longer needed by them but also pleased that I was able to help and support them.
